How were you informed (if you don't mind my asking), was it a posted letter or email?

I'm waiting for the Tabloids .... Heatwave expected by Friday to break all records
Text - actually it came from the NHS Coronavirus Service.

The advice for you over 70s to stay in is entirely for your safety. If you have a nice garden, however, I would not hesitate to go outside and enjoy it, so long as next door (upwind) garden isn't full of young people, breathing over your fence.
Yes, I think I'll do this unless I get absolute instructions that I must not go out of the back door (even then I would still pop out to the garage - that's where my booze is stored!) The text I received from NHS coronavirus service said I could open my windows - no mention of gardens.

We really could do with it pissing down for a couple of weeks to keep the ****wits indoors, couldn't we?

Two more days of this, than turning cloudier, colder and breezier (from the north) from Friday into early next week..

I'm in Valencia and the weather is truly crap. Most have a balcony of some sort and access to the roof of their buildings so some sun would be very welcome. Been a couple of weeks of shite now and it's getting to people - myself included.

Don't get me wrong - I love it out there.

But so does everyone else.

Two weeks of solid rain really would help suppress the spread of the virus.

Alternatively, these idiots will at least be meeting outdoors, rather than in enclosed spaces, which they would be doing if it was raining.

Sounds like a Daily Express headline - actually, to be fair, the Express would be screaming about 'killer blizzards' and 'Siberian hurricanes' :bigwave:

Just make sure your garden is at least 4 metres by 4 metres, then you can go and sit in the middle

Blimey those charts have taken on a whole new meaning now.

No prizes for guessing what I thought that represented.

Loving it, after 6 months of record rain. Been out bike riding (metres away from anyone else).

Shame about the ********s … have seen dog walkers from different families in our part of the world meeting up, socialising without a care in the world.

I received a text this morning. I don't have an underlying health condition. Text said something like 'Stay at home support the NHS'

I deleted it, but a few other NSC posters received it too
There is a standard " stay at home" for the general populace and a ramped up " isolate Yourself" for the more vulnerable.

Are they though? I've just been informed by the government that I'm one of the 1.5M who have to go into isolation for the next 12 weeks. Yes, I know I can't go shopping, or even for a walk in the park which is virtually deserted, but the instructions are still conflating terms like stay at home, stay indoors, don't go out, etc. As far as I can see, none of the official releases have mentioned gardens - can I go and mow the lawn, or just sit in the sunshine, or am I actually banned from setting foot outside my back door?

Hopefully they'll come up with clarification soon; if they don't, I think I will use my definition of 'home' to include my garden.

The EU have just announced that you should stay indoors!

Seriously there are so many scnearios that are probably a higher priority and easier to explain. Top one I saw last night, were kids who live in two houses (seperated parents). They really NEED urgent guidance and virus isolation is only one part of the equation. Domestic abuse victims and those totally reliant on home help to perform the most basic tasks. There is always someone worse off.

Garden covers a whole raft of different configurations, from secluded back gardens, through open plan tiny front gardens, next to the street, through communal gardens. Handing out blanket advice is going to be tricky. My guess is you won't be arrested in your own garden and you probably need to make your own mind up, what sort of a risk is involved in going in your own garden. I wouldn't wait for permission though.

Are you serious What clarification are yoiu waiting for. Of course you can go in your garden. What do you want Boris to knock on your door to tell you.

I think we should have a thread of most stupid questions asked. I will start with following..
Somebody phoned a radio station today to ask what they do if they run out of food and they have already been to supermarket that week.

The annoying thing is half the people out are probably ones that havent been given any help and need to work, the other half are morons that ask these stupid questions.
