Thinking of getting all cabled up on Virgin via NSC ad - little help?

yes its fine. I have been a cable user since Cable and Wireless, to NTL, to Virgin.

The V+ boxes are noisy on some boxes ( have replaced ours twice and are waiting for the new boxes coming out next month) which are basically a hard disk and you can hear the disk arm.

We have the VIP package including Movies and Sports , an extra box for upstairs which is free....it includes broadband and the phone

Its not cheap though!!

Y'know, this is what I like most about NSC. It can be a force for good, as well as evil

I've been on NTL/virgin for a couple of years after being sky/BTInternet before I moved. Fine would be my assessment too. Their on-demand stuff is v good.

Just the same as in most things, you get some good some bad out of them. Their call centre (prob in India) isn't brilliant, but for some reason sometimes you get really clued up techies.

Main bad thing comparing with BT is the variability of broadband speed. BT always seemed about the same. Virgin changes from mega fast to piss poor slow. Anyone else noticed this?

Different service, different call centre, but I've ALWAYS found Indian-based call centre staff to be equally as clued up as their UK equivalents. In many cases, more so. For me the main difference is the language/accent understanding difficulty. Tricky one to overcome, that, and no obvious way round it.

and yes you can keep you bt number
i just got a free v box from them coming to do it next week
you have to hagge with them

Being able to "port" your number is an advantage , it wasn't possible in the old days as the telecoms companies kept their own numbering ranges to themselves so you had to have a new number when switching providers.

Also been with VM since the NTL days and whilst I have had few issues in all, when there have been problems I've found the internet tech support to be a vast amount more helpful than the TV tech support.

Also (though this won't probably affect newer customers as presumably they get a newer digibox) we have to reboot our digibox every two days or so because it freezes up, but that's nothing mjor.

Afternoon all

TV aerial's gone to the great TV repair shop in the sky. Digi-box gets none of the ITV channels. Not that I ever watch them y'understand, but I like to know they're THERE. And, yes, switching off and on has been tried, and has failed. Nature's way of telling me to get cabled up methinks. Cable is already laid outside the house.

So... anybody got anything particularly good or bad to say about Virgin? There's an NSC ad up top which I'm minded to use, though have heard vague grumbles about Virgin customer service. Oh, and if I opt for the TV/broadband/phone package, can I keep me old BT number? And is broadband speed tied to the proximity of the nearest 1930's telephone exchange?

Any and all information gratefully received.

You will not be charging me for this information.

Cheers
Keep your phone through BT line but not with BT and take out the broadcall package with UW Darren & Alison Golds - Independent Qualified Executive - Telecom plus and then see whats the best deal for tv for sky or virgin:thumbsup:
Personally i prefer sky and some of my mates have virgin and not too happy!
Regarding the broadcall package if anyone is with BT it's probably costing you £120-£150 a quarter for calls, line rental and broadband:ohmy:
With UW could be costing you £60:thumbsup:
