they are playing the corn exchangeand its a late show on the saturday i think, if it is a late show it means there is only 2 or 3 going at that point so it will be a potential nightmare to get into, however the great escape is fantastic in my opinion. Yes its 45 quid but you have three evenings of live music and its a great buzz round the town.

Really thought The Vaccines could be something special given their first EP (the Wrecking Bar one, which I thought was along the lines of Jimi from doves singing over Ramones-esque tracks), but having heard their album in full I was simply left thinking, "How f***ing disappointing."

As for TGE, it has its pros and cons - yes, you get great value in seeing so many people play around town for £45 and there are often a few real gems hidden away in there.

However, with many venues going to the wall (Freebutt, Pressure Point, Barfly and Engine Rooms to name but four), and the set times more strung out, it's meant that the past couple of years have seen more people wanting to go to the same places at the same time.

I used to love leaping from one venue to another, but with queues going back ludicrously far and it almost being impossible to get in anywhere unless you pick one venue for the night early on and staying put, I'm not that sure if it's worth going to this any more.
