From previous threads i think there are a few fans of them on here, anyway on saturday april 16th they will be doing a dj set at the indie night holdup at Life down on the beach.
Top band who really know how to write and craft songs, I really enjoyed them on the NME thingy, and I'll be checking them out at The Great Escape. And the bassist thinks he is Mick Jones..which is no bad thing. I used to think I was Joe Strummer for a few years.
Sadly I'll be away that weekend.
Just what we need in music right now. Another shit band thinking that they're the clash. Great.
Just because someone is in a moderately shit indie band, doesn't mean they're going to be a good DJ. I hate it when you see posters that say "Bloc Party" (or whatever), then in really small writing underneath "DJ Set". I don't give a f*** what music Kele Okereke wants to play.
This. Pendulum do it all the time and it's not the same thing!
they are playing the corn exchangeand its a late show on the saturday i think, if it is a late show it means there is only 2 or 3 going at that point so it will be a potential nightmare to get into, however the great escape is fantastic in my opinion. Yes its 45 quid but you have three evenings of live music and its a great buzz round the town.
Agreed.
Went to see James Blake, who I absolutely LOVE the other day and he did a DJ set. Gutted.
Hip-Hop artists tend to do a lot of it as well, went to see Kid Koala expecting him to do his turtabling thing but he just put on a couple of records.
Now I realise why they market the shows in the way they do...didn't realise people actually fell for it!

Most events do actually specify it's a DJ set though.
This. It's a fantastic way to spend 3 days. I take the Friday off work and really get stuck into the event. Three days, wandering around the city, walking into numerous bars and clubs catching some great music. And as you say the buzz around the city is brilliant.
My gang purchase 'early bird' delegate passes for £80 which gives you priority at the venues and allow you access to the conference itself. Some of the talks are interesting.
