The truth about meat - people like the taste.

If it was well reared and treated as a once a week reward, I don't think they'd be any need to be a vegetarian anymore. But it's not. This is why I don't eat meat. Because the greedy mass meat consumers are ruining it for everyone and the planet (your kids future).

All the veggies I know admit that they find the smell of bacon absolutely mouth-watering, and the one thing that makes them come close to embracing meat, as it were. Must be hard-wired into all our primeval brains no? Unlike the predominantly middle-class fad of vegetarianism.

but at least I won't feel the need for 4 more with my morning coffee, 4 with lunch, 4 with tea and 4 before bed... and the same every day...

Reckon office workers who eats a bacon roll in the staff canteen should be allowed to skive off four times a day for unofficial breaks outside the building like smokers do. Maybe even extend it to drinkers who would be excused four times a day to nip out for a can of Stella while their co-workers hold the fort.

My other half is a vegan, her issue with meat is with the practices of the industry. Obviously it's commercialised beyond belief - it has to be if the farmer is going to survive. But to that end, there is no room for compassion.

Dairy cows must be kept pregnant constantly.
Any male calves must be disposed of immediately :(
Bolt gun

Chickens must lay constantly.
New chicks must be produced to keep the production line operating.
Any male chicks must be disposed of immediately :(
Bin bag (suffocation)
Grinder (grinding)

It's pretty harsh, definitely don't look into it if you have a weak constitution.

I watched a video about the dairy industry recently, and I agree it's pretty horrific.

Basically, as long as you give up smoking / don't smoke in the first place, and you don't regularly exceed the recommended alcohol consumption limits, the likelihood is that the anxiety caused by worrying about what may or may not be slowly killing you is much more likely to cause cancers, heart disease, strokes etc than deciding not to read every report than comes out and getting on with enjoying your life.

Indeed, stress is bad for you. Consistently elevated levels of cortisol will cause all manner of problems that people will probably never be aware of the root cause.

Fad?

Vegetarianism has been around for thousands of years, to varying degrees.
