No, as you ask, I got a coach from a brilliant pub in Patcham (where I used to live), but as I'm nearer 80 than 70 years old, made the decision to cancel my season ticket as of now.......was an emotional afternoon for me ! The drive up and back from Dorset has finally caught up with me.

It took my edf bus just over an hour, we left at about 12.15, what made it worse was we had to stand up all the way; I didn't want to wait for the next one, which seems like a good decision in retrospect.

Our ST driver coming from the West pulled all the tricks to get us to the ground in plenty of time. Went up the slip road at the Devils Dyke junction and back down the other side, he then stayed on the inside lane until as late as possible at the next junction before getting another bus to let him filter in. Did the same at the Patcham junction.

It really is a disgrace how long they are taking to do this.

Why are they never working when I go past? Surely on a major road like this it should be prioritised to be done as quickly as possible?

Also why is so much of it closed off when they can only be working on a little part of it.

It’s health and safety madness and another poor reflection on the public sector.

Coach from Shoreham left at 12pm - with 4 stops on route arrived at 2.42pm. Missed the whole first half. Worst I've ever experienced. I know some might say 'go early' but how frigging early? The coach I catch goes at same time at 1pm from Shoreham and I can't force the drive to leave an hour earlier. Fortunately for me there were about 45 other people equally pissed off so I wasn't alone.
That's weird. We got seagull travel bus from Portslade southern cross at 11.50 (it starts from Shoreham around 12) and arrived around 1.10. Don't understand how you took so long. Sorry.

Our bus has managed the same trip last 3 games. The worst one was the only time the driver tried to avoid the A27. Ironic or what?

Just to annoy you even more it is costing £2.5 million pounds, someone somewhere is making a lot of money considering only about 5 people seem to be working on it.

...both pre-match and post-match was all kinds of "fun", with the latter being about the worst I can remember.

I know some missed kick-off too, due to the snarl-up.
Pre-match was MUCH worse, IMHO.

1h35ish from EDF, 35ish back to EDF.

Bored, on the way there, I poked PBOBE - mainly to see how quickly he would reply.

Got one back at 4.25pm saying they have no influence on the P&R or the routes they take... 💩💩💩

Jnr & I were on the 24 bus around 12pm & both parts of the Ditchling Road onto the Coldean Lane junction were stacked. Coldean Lane was strangely fine but from reading this thread it's probably because no one could actually get on it. I've never seen it like that before.

I understand today was just about a perfect storm, and that there is nothing the club can do about the nonsensical A27 roadworks - but they really need to read this thread and similar feedback, and start to consider some kinds of contingency to alleviate the problems.

People missing kick offs. People abandoning the journey and turning round. People literally cancelling season tickets, because their travel situation is not tenable. What will it take for them to understand the seriousness of the situation 🤷‍♂️

Has anyone ever seen a worker on those road’works’ yet?

There were three routes the EDF buses could have taken today.

Via the A270 and pop up on the A27 post roadworks.

Take the Hove slip road on the A27 after seeing the MASSIVE tailback and back down to join the A270.

Sit on the A27, permanently on the inside lane, ignoring the traffic passing on the outside lane and not bothering to do the slip road-roundabout-slip road trick to save some time.

Didn't we used to have a transport manager?

We don't seem to even have bus drivers with Google Maps, now.

Maybe with the harsher STH conditions from next season, and currently ST’s unsold, now might be the time to cap capacity to 25k until such a time the club, city council and rail companies take it seriously? It can’t go on like this (but will due to the negligent apathy on all sides). Leave plenty of time is such a lame get out. A day? A week? The club can never be wrong issuing such ambiguous advice that bears no resemblance to reasonable expectations. It’s a shit show typical of our country today. I’ll give ‘em that. We have form in that sense.

I am sure “they” appreciate the difficulty fans have because it’s been an ongoing bone of contention ever since the stadium was built.

However, genuine question: What do people suggest the Club does about the public transport situation in this Country, or roadworks and accidents? Or the Falmer Station conditions or TV scheduling?

I’ve said this before but the club should definitely be on at Southern trains to put on as many coaches as possible on their trains. Every train today was 4 coaches that I saw, even though there were loads of units sitting in sidings because (a) it’s a Sunday and (b) there were no trains west from Brighton. There was no excuse to have short formations, people being crammed on and, I suspect, some missing kick off because they couldn’t get them on a train off Brighton in time.

There is no more staff needed torun an 8 car over a 4 car, but it makes a huge difference in terms of shifting people.

On the way down to match today Waze suggested coming off the A23 at Hassocks so I ended up going through Ditchlin up to Coldean lane . I probably haven’t been that way since I was child in my mum’s car. I was stuck behind some cars who were stuck behind some cyclist, but I didn’t care the view was amazing 😻 I forget what a beautiful county Sussex is. So I was pleased the traffic was busy today otherwise I would carried on down the A23 as I had parking a Brighton university for the first time, which worked well.

On Thursday (8th May) the A27 is closed westbound at the roadworks between 8pm and 6am.
I mention this because during that time quite a lot of fans will be heading home from The Amex after the Senior Cup Final.

How did you get home? Was it similarly “blissfully easy”?
Bit of a train queue that cleared quickly. Got bus immediately on exiting station. No direct routes available to mine but 15 minutes walk after a relaxing sit down was quite pleasant.
