I agree I was late but that was due to prior commitments and a 40 minute drive that normally takes 20 minsIsn’t 1pm a bit late for a 2pm ko? What time does the coach normally leave for a 3pm ko?

Totally agree. We gave up our season tickets for exactly this reason. As I mentioned on the main thread, we sat in the car for over an hour, and with about 15 mins to go til kick off, we gave up as we were still on A27. Would have been lucky to see any of the first half... We'd done about 8 miles in an hour, including being at a complete stop for a bus of Newcastle fans with a blown out tyre...
Why in gods name didn't someone think to use their brains and move back the cones and use the hard shoulder so two lanes could be "made". A bank holiday weekend, where trains aren't running, and they couldn't put any brain power to it to think people might want to actually GO SOMEWHERE!!! Just bonkers...Nothing will change though, it never does..
We came home and watched the rest on TV. About an hour ago I saw one of the regular buses come down our road, around 1.5 hours late...
Getting to the Amex is usually pretty bad, but this is the last straw for me...Not sure I'll bother again...I love the Amex and the game, but the diabolical travel is now outweighing all of that...
It’s unfortunately the case that getting to the stadium is getting a real pain in the a***. I left the house in Shoreham to get the Nr 2 bus early today and it was just taken out of service. The first Spring holiday weekend with a home game and the start of the Brighton Festival: roadworks on the main road and no west coast trains. You couldn’t make it up!I agree I was late but that was due to prior commitments and a 40 minute drive that normally takes 20 mins
If coming from Burgess Hill wouldn’t Ditchling Beacon / Ditchling Road / Coldean Lane be an option?Left Burgess Hill 12:30 and got to the Amex 13:10. Initial queue at 23/27 junction opened up after lane closure and no queue on the Falmer slip.
30 min delay back after so, annoying but nothing compared to some of your experiences.
Only 1 more of these to go
I travel from BH and gave up on this route as Coldean Lane could be such a pain. I now do Chailey, Lewes and in from the east on the A27. A predictable 30 min journey. I’ll do the Beacon home but I’m one of those who leave a couple of mins early. If coming from Burgess Hill wouldn’t Ditchling Beacon / Ditchling Road / Coldean Lane be an option?
My mate I sit with gets the ST from Burgess Hill and that was his experience going to the ground. So, when I heard a mate was stranded on the A27 I was a little surprised. Seems a breakdown on the single lane section scuppered a lot of people’s first halves.Left Burgess Hill 12:30 and got to the Amex 13:10. Initial queue at 23/27 junction opened up after lane closure and no queue on the Falmer slip.

Was that going home on the A27….if so where were the holdups….i thought all the crap was east boundIt was horrendous tbf. I was slow getting away from the stadium as I stopped for a chat and then went to the club shop, got in the car at about 5 and got to Shoreham by 6:30pm.
How did you get home? Was it similarly “blissfully easy”?Blissfully easy for me today.
A late and cunning change of plan meant I drove the family to stanmer park, had a nice walk and a picnic, loaded kids back in car, kissed missus goodbye, sauntered over to stadium totally unaware of any travel chaos.

Lucky old you........................got to my Dorset home at 7.30 pm..............Just back now. Shocking getting out of the University alone.
I think the P&R will be chaos until the A27 returns to normal and the Racecourse reopens with full parking. Still just Liverpool to endure now.
Did you leave before the end then?Lucky old you........................got to my Dorset home at 7.30 pm..............
Gawd….nitemare!Nope, westbound up the hill from Falmer to Hollingbury it goes to single lane until nearly the A23 exit
Don't be silly !In brilliant timing the works finish roughly around the same time the season ends. And roughly when the unis stop teaching. They so should have done the works in the summer when there’s a lot less traffic.
No, as you ask, I got a coach from a brilliant pub in Patcham (where I used to live), but as I'm nearer 80 than 70 years old, made the decision to cancel my season ticket as of now.......was an emotional afternoon for me !Did you leave before the end then?![]()
