Now, 23 games with a 8850 capacity at £15 average ticket price is a turnover of £3,053,250.
Say we have a squad of 36 on average of £40,000 per year the players wage bill comes to £1,440,000. Add 20 other staff at £30,000 per year we get £600,000.
It costs £20k to stage a game at Withdean. 23 games comes in at £460,000.
This still leaves £553,000 left over per year and totally ignores any other revenue streams. Some, like transfer fees, are very significant sums.
Further more, I feel I have probably greatly over estimated the average player salary. Given the vast majority of our squad are young and inexperienced I would have grave concerns if the average was anywhere near 50k per player.
I appreciate the simplistic nature of my maths, but I really do struggle to see how the club claim that theu would still be losing money hand over fist even if the ground was sold out week after week.
Dick Knight, please explain where the money is going. This is not a criticism, it is a request for clarification.
I would put this on the 'Ask the club' board but fear it will be deleted.
