How does saying "ex-colleague" make it any better than any other rumour exactly?!

I was comparing the rumour to the "I've heard who we're trying to sign. It'll blow your mind but I can't tell you," style rumour some of our posters seem to specialise in.

At least here we've got a name and a source.

This is a pretty interesting rumour actually. Watford certainly dont want to keep hold of him and his contract is up in the summer.

He's currently on 12k a week so he would have to take a massive pay drop if he signed for us. If he doesn't have any other offers though and wants to prove himself again then perhaps he will go for it (especially as if we do go up our budget will massivly increase and he'd no doubt get a pay rise).

I'm told he's got a terrible attitude though and he fasts during ramadan which messes him up in terms of his body conditioning although that wouldnt affect us between now and May.

The club want to keep this one very close to my chest, only just managed to squeeze it out of my saurce (who is a family member.) Think this is the players demands.

But as Mr Burns says, this player is very special, and if we do sign him, we are going up!

By the time Ramadan effects the football season again he will be in his mid thirties so nothing to worry about there.

So it's NOT Nathan Ellington?

If it does turn out to be him, not having a moan or anything, but he'd be a disappointing "special" player to me...oh how our(my) aspirations have changed with Gus, Falmer and TB.

So do Mr Burns and Hitman have the same name or are they just presuming they our thinking about the same one?

No. He is a striker, but its not him. I would love to say who it is, but just can't. If I did, for a start I'd get abuse for some of the children on here and laughed out of here (cause he is that special) as I did when I posted about the two ro three manager sackings and Coppell's acceptance of the managers job, all of which turned out to be true (even though Coppell later backed out). This is the first good info my snout has got since BLoom took over, so I aint risking him being found out, as although no doubt a few people on here know who it is, the club want to keep it quiet for now. And I personally don't think we have a prayer of signing him, and would say to people forget about the special one, but stanger things have happened.............

I just love the fact you used the word "snout". You're Mr Burns not Burnside!

There is always the possibility that we are being lead a merry dance and that Gus and TB are planning a complete restructering of the side with 4 or 5 players coming in but playing it down by not saying anything of importance.

The problem with bringing in more than 3 players during the jan window is that new players take time to gel, and we won't have that time halfway through the season with a pack of teams hot on our heels. Hopefully gus and TB can see that.

Robbie Fowler anyone?

He wouldnt be deemed the special player, averaging about one in three in Australian leagues and the quality over there i believe is fairly poor having spoken to people living out there. He's a big name, but he wouldnt be the one that would guarantee promotion, no way IMO.

Another who wouldnt necessarily guarantee promotion, but i'd love us to take a look at is Danny Haynes at Bristol City. They've got 5 or 6 top strikers, and he's fairly low on the list, but on his day he's a top class player in that league, let alone ours.

Just throwing names around now but if this so called "special player" is as good as some seem to think, why not someone like Robbie Keane? Getting on a bit now, not getting games at spurs, was there the same time as Poyet and might have some good connections via that. Obsviously it's a long shot but as the hitman and mr burns say we could be suprised. Other names maybe could be xisco from newcastle, and possibly someone like anichebe although they are not exactly special...

If some people think that for us a 29 year old ex premiership striker who has averaged almost a goal every two games at three of his clubs and gone for a total of £7.6m is not special, some people need a major reality check.
Thats old news as he's on a downward spiral and obviously way past his best, most of us would prefer a player with something to prove???
