The Post office, NHS etc are being subjected the same tactics as all public services. Before privatising them, you tell them they must "compete" and "modernise", whilst starving them of cash. The inevitable result is that they descend into chaos, at which point the politicians point at the falling standards (which they have caused),say they need to be privatised, and that's that. It's a con.
