I'm going out on a limb here... firstly obviously what happened was deeply insulting to the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives for us.

What I want to ask is this: Is the poppy burning our version of burning the flag in the USA?

Its not illegal to burn a poppy (Inciting hatred/violence however is another matter. The act of lighting up a poppy is not illegal). The same way as right now in the USA its not illegal to burn the flag.

Over the years various executives in the USA have tried to bring in the Flag Protection act and failed to get it through Congress. Would you make a law that banned the burning of poppies?

Not trying to start a binfest or anything. This is not a racial/religious issue but a question of if anyone did it.

Its not our version its some stinking pakistani ***** version.

Suppose in some way if these vile and twisted racists want to burn poppies then British service men and women have laid down their lives to give them that right.
I think the most important right in this country though is the right to f*** off if You don't like it here.
I drive past Gatwick 10 times a week and can get 3 in My car that's 30 a week,and I wouldn't charge a penny.

burning a flag is one thing, its a statement against a nation. burning a poppy is quite perverse and incredibly ignorant: the poppy is about those fallen in conflict, it not political or pro war. those burning a poppy a quite likly to have granfathers or great grandfathers who fought in the two world wars, so they tarnish disrespect their own heritage.

Funny, I was thinking, is the poppy our version of the american flag lapel pin.

There have been incidents of people's patriotism being questioned because they haven't worn a flag shaped pin on their lapel, and consider the fuss that is made about people on TV not wearing poppies brining into question how much they respect the men and women who defend this country, or who fought and died for this country in the world wars.
