Gus to Stoke makes sense as they want a change of style

Sorry if this has appeared elsewhere, but noticed from a quick google search on the subject that Gus was supposedly courted by Mike Ashley and Newcastle when Keegan left, while he was still at Spurs (at least according to the Sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/1664840/Newcastle-move-in-for-Gus-Poyet.html, and enough for him to bother to deny http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/2710298/Tottenhams-Gus-Poyet-dismisses-Newcastle-rumours-Football.html).

Admittedly, this was when Dennis Wise was still in post at NUFC, so it was seen as a logical step to recreate the Wise/Poyet partnership. It's fair to say the "oft-dismissed munchkin" (copyright Nick Hancock) isn't exactly the most popular figure on Tyneside, so by extension Poyet may not be either - but it was Ashley who brought Wise in (above Keegan's head, ultimately leading to his departure) so it would make sense that he might be a Gus admirer too. Ashley is a big Spurs fan as well, so you'd imagine he'd have seen a fair bit of Gus as a player.

I should point out that I'm anything but ITK - this is total speculation like everything else that's been said on the subject. But it seemed vaguely interesting, as I'd forgotten about the original story.

Surely the Toon and Rafa is a better fit? Then again if you were going to Fulham why sell your house in Orpington?

Gus must have something "arranged" if the house sale is anything to go by. Could well be Newcastle as that would definitely involve a move. Pardew definitely has ability whatever you think of him.
