every time i have gone to withdean there have been moaners...even this season there were people shouting crap like get it forward, hoof it etc, even though we were top of the league/up there at the time....i think its just cos its so quiet you can hear them more than at other grounds...hopefully the numbers and atmosphere at the amex will change that....maybe withdean just brought the worst out in some people, the ground it is meant that a decent atmosphere could never really build up, the mass of people wasnt there to get things really going.

I was at Madrid vs Zaragoza at the weekend...the noise made by about 500-1000 Zaragoza fans was just unbelievable...the atmosphere was amazing..if we could have anything like that next season its going to be awesome!

Until you posted this I had you down as someone who had supported the Albion regularly throughout the Withdean years at least. Now you either haven't been to the ground much before this season or you have recently had a hearing problem cured. Virtually every season there have been a loud but audible minority who are only happy when they're moaning. The last few seasons at least they have been in a large area towards the back of C block at least. One of the worst moaners is actually one of the club's own matchday staff, still wearing his suit and 'access all areas' pass. It would not be appropriate to name him. Every manager in the last 12 years has had the same problem and has said something in the press at the time. This is not a new phenomenom - it was there at the Goldstone as well - and it will still be there at the Amex. I don't like to hear it either but it won't go away even if we win the champions league. Just live with it or give 'em a bit of your own mind back.

Well your first assessment in regards to me supporting them regularly for 30+ games a season for the past 10 years(adult life) is correct and am a currant season ticket, before that I used to go a little less with family and mainly only home games.

I maybe should have re-phrased it a little bit better to be honest, as Withdean mumblings or discontent isnt 100% what i'm talking about here, that pisses me off and a few occasions this season ive had a go at people about the negativity because I certainly wont put up with it, especially when weve walked away with this league ...that is an issue that will of course be made worse in my opinion as the gates grow and it still a concern, as you can see from my post.....it's mainly aimed at what I've seen and expiereinced this season away from home aswell.

So when you mix in, Miserable negativity/moaning, unrealistic expectations with a pinch of disgraceful behaviour i.e trying to fight with fellow albion fans and asbo ish behaviour then I do worry about what it will be like. Thats really my point.

I dont buy into the belief that we have super and amazing fans that are spotless, quite the opposite, it worries me for next season if anything.

But all that aside, I will be in my seat in the West Lower trying to get an atmos going and shouting down any undeserved negativity, I fully believe that your support your side and get behind them and I will be as vocal in support of the boys as I can.

Except we've just walked the league being the opposite of a GET IT FORWARD team. Gus is never going to appreciate that shout.

Na but you know what it's like, it's not like players are listening to my instructions & I don't shout it aggressively, it's just a passion thing like when it's in our penalty area & ya scream "CLEAR IT" obviously they are trying to but you just get caught up in it don't ya...... Does that make sense lol
I don't shout & have a go at our players & don't agree with those that do

Aswell I'm sure we're all guilty of shouting "shoot" at some time or another when a player is running into space in or around the box.... It's what footballs all about, it creates atmosphere

'Get it forward' is not necessarily the same as lump it forward.

Pork pie land.
I used to go to Gillingham regularly. I had a season ticket at Withdean until 2004, when I moved away from Sussex. I have not had one since, and only been to a handful of home games in the last seven years. I go to as many away games as I can. I intend to go to as many home games as possible when we move to Falmer. The difference is that it will be an outstanding experience, and I will not have to drive for three plus hours soaking wet if it rains.

the ones who havent been for ages will come and watch now were doing well and where were they when we were rubbish
So you only want the few thousand people that attended the games when we were "rubbish" and you want a half empty stadium right ?

I think that more to the point would be the people who did not want to watch at the shit-hole that is Withdean, Our away support has always been strong. I don't think fans have stayed away because the team have been rubbish - they were for years before the 70s, but our support was always outstanding. In this day and age, people want more for their money than sitting on temporary seats in the rain and being asked to pay over the odds for the "pleasure". Fans expect a certain level of match day experience for the high price of a ticket. We are moving from a ground that falls way short of expectations - to one that will far exceed them i'm sure.

Now this new ground of ours will bring the 4000-5000 season ticket holders over from withdean, X amount of old school fans from the goldstone days who departed us back in 97, it will also bring as were all aware new fans who are pretend premiership fans who shout at TV screens in pubs all over sussex on sunday afternoons, in my mind all are welcome and the more the merrier however.......................

Some games this season have mildly concerned me in how the fans have acted and im a little worried that its a sign of things to come.

Certain away games like Bournemouth, MK dons and booing your team at home to FC United & im sure others can add their own, have seen a clux of scum attending the games, slaughtering our players, starting on other albion fans and generally acting like they have just been released from young offenders insitutute.

I do worry that at the Amex were going to have this behaviour carried on, now I dont want to sound like one of those Argus comments section moaners in the paper itself and I personally shout my mouth off for 90 minutes in support of the lads and will try my hardest to get an atmos going home and away, I just hope the scum that I have seen grow this season stay very much a minority at the new staduim and at away games as the club as a whole doesnt need these fans to be honest.

I dont want Gus walking away because these plebs are booing everytime were not 3-0 up at half time or losing at home to a very good ex prem side, which will happen next season...make no bones about it.

I noticed at MK that it wasn't just scummers coming out the woodwork for the glory shouting what you said. It was also seasoned fans who have followed us when we were shit. I know their names on here but i won't name them. However even they have become so used to watching 'f***ing brilliant' albion that its turned them into fuckwits. It's not just the latecomers!
