What a nightmare the pair of them have had recently - I've been saying this about them for the past few weeks but we've managed to cover up their failings by the rest of the team playing well. Today Bournemouth sussed within 5 mins that the left side was our weakness and exploited it all afternoon. Last season Mayo surprised me by raising his game in Div 1 (I thought he was going to be well outclassed) and was one of my players of the season but now he is playing worse than he did 2 years ago! And don't even get me started on Jonah - he's becoming a liability!
Something needs to be done about our left side while we are still in a good enough position to not let it ruin our season.
Answer = Dunno, but maybe the new manager will sort it out (whoever he may be?)
Personally I would start by dropping Jones and maybe giving Harding another go. Then, what with all the talk of who should play RB - Hinsh or Watto, I would drop Mayo and put Watson on the left leaving Hinsh on the right.
Watto and Harding might not be the answer but its an option we have using the available players and they can't do a worse job surely?
I'm sure some of you won't agree but I really think the left side is a major problem right now and something needs to be done before the rest of Div 2 starts exploiting it

Good post but I thought Mayo was one of he best on the pitch today. OK that's not saying much, but I think he's better then we give him credit for.

Don't get me started on Jones today......Although was annoyed with the bloke in front of me at the match. After the game, Jones clapped our fans, and this idiot shouted Jones, yoyr crap and gave him the w***er sign.

And Mayo has picked up the nasty habit of looking at his boots instead of looking for someone to pass too, some of his aimless balls have been spectacularly bad.

Temporary answer would be to get in a certain Leicester reserve player on loan with a view to a permanent move back!

Unfortunately Jonesy has not performed for a few games recently.

No idea why but needs to restore his confidence very quickly.

I would say that as well but thought I'd be flamed.

Harding should start perhaps - it really is not happening for Jones at the moment.

There is comment further up this thread about how he gives the ball away and it is very true - nearly cost us a goal against Blackpool.

Could be that Mayo is nervous because he's having to cover his own position and Jones's?

Mayo has been exposed a lot because Jones keeps going walk-about and then doesn't track back so Kerry then has roughly 30% of the pitch to cover on his own. Jones should be getting initial challenges in to slow the other team down a bit but he's just not doing his job. Needs to be dropped again. Mayo is (IMHO) having a reasonable season but sadly is made to look worse than he is by constantly being asked to do the jobs of 2 men.

And who told Jones he's a dead ball specialist? I can't recall one of his corners in recent games getting into the box above knee height. Don't we have a better option than him?

I tohught mayo played well yesterday him and butters were the best players on the pitch for me.

I tohught Chippy was terrible, poor Zesh has to cover the whole central defence at the moment and Leon didn't seem to get into the game either yesterday.

Mayo has had a really good year so far imo. Jones had one of his poorer games yesterday but so did quite a few others. Jones wasn't the only person to put in a poor corner (eh, Chippy) or lose the ball (McPhee, Zesh..).

Seems that this left-sided problem will be BB's 1st test as boss - after yesterday's performance it will be interesting if he makes changes on the left for tuesday.
Sorry Bob, but if its not working you can't just keep naming the side that SC picked. If you're to be the boss you need to be your own man and make changes or I'm afraid you're not the man for the job as far as I'm concerned.
Rumour was that Steve Cotterill was at yesterday's game - it would be interesting to know what he thought of certain performances
