Jones has played a total of about 2 accurate passes in the last 2 games - 1 of them for Jake's goal. Harding should come in.

Mayo is OK, IMHO.

Jones makes at least one dreadful error a game that could cost us a goal.
On occasions he looks reasonably skilfull but he can't tackle and most of the time he runs around like a headless chicken. The comments above re Kerry having to cover for him are correct and it's making Kerry look bad as well.

Never been a big fan of his but we don't really have too many options in his position.

Its all very well doing all the showboating stuff when your teamates have put you into a comfy lead but I`m afraid jones is too much of a fancy Dan for my liking and when you want someone to dig deep he is not your man.............would not get a look in if Brooker was here.....

If Jones went we would miss him. Just like we miss Brooker. Jones knows the players and squad and therefore has a good understanding with those around him and at this level he can get forward and cause defenders problems. Piercy was outstanding at Colchester but hasn't reproduced that whilst Harding doesn't have the same threat going forward as Jones.

Jones didn't have a great game but not many people did and to single him out is out of order as far as im concerned.

People are stating that Jones gives the ball away but what about Hinsh ?? Hispass completion rate must be around 10%

can't speak for the Bournemouth game but I do think Jones is a little overrated. Whenever a chance falls to him in the box I assume he's going to miss it, and it's all very well doing the RIverdance trick but a little pointless if you then run out of pitch or put in a rubbish cross.

He's not a winger, and the only decent crosses we've supplied recently have come from Gary "HELLO? Does anybody except BUtters know I'm out here?" Hart.

Hart is by far the best crosser of the ball and proved it on Sat on the rare occasion he got the ball

Jones was woeful and Mayo wasnt that much better, why oh why did Booker wait until the 80th minute to make a substitution? Surely he could see we were playing absolutely toss and the players on the pitch needed replacing!!

I recall that Jonh was very supportive of Coppell when he was boss - sid he's made him a much better player etc etc, so perhaps he is suffering a reaction to SC's departure.

Bloody nora...makes me wonder what he'd have been like without Coppout's help:eek: For a number of games now he's been leaving Mayo as vulnerable as a 15 year old virgin at a Rix party.

And who's sid?

Since Coppout said in the paper about a month ago that Mayo was one of the best Left Backs outside the Prem., his performances have gone to pot. He's lucky we have no one else to play there at mo.

Norman Gall said on SCR that he'd seen Mayo over the last few games and he'd been outstanding. Proof, if any was needed that Gall is a rambling old fool who has no idea what is going on in front of his own eyes.

He initially accused Warren Feeney of making the most of his injury. Until they carried him off the pitch unconscious in a neck brace.

of course in Norman's day, they'd have got up and carried on regardless...

The better the opposition, the more likely Jones and Mayo will be found out. Middlesbrough weren't brilliant against us, admittedly, but they sussed it within a couple of minutes - Hinsh and Harty were giving them nothing, so they killed us down our left and SC took Mayo off early(ish) in the second half.

And for SC to make a substitution before the 85th minute then there MUST have been a problem - looks like he's got Bob well trained on that front, incidentally...

Mayo is a defender, who as much as he would like to get forward, keeps being told to stay back by Booker. You can see him signalling it. This then leaves Jones with little support up the wing - and Jones' dead ball skills are dire.

He often wants to play the showboating/60 yard cross field ball, mainly because he is incapable of the short pass to feet. Mayo needs quality in front of him.

Hinshelwood has the quality infront of him, but rarely delivers it. His passes make me think he is Stuart Munday re-incarnated. At least Paul Watson - despite his nightmare season last season - has proved that he can pass the ball - even if his touch has deserted him. Personally I think Watson's break from the game - albeit enforced - has done him some good, and has given him an opportunity to sort out his shortcomings.

Jones and Hinshelwood out. Watson and Harding/Piercy in. Alternatively, why not play Waston in the left midfield slot, ahead of Mayo?
