And basically Surrey won. They had to do all this garbage, change team names, make it a 100 balls, turn Glamorgan into Welsh Hula-Hoops, Nottinghamshire into Trent Skips, merge Hampshire with Sussex and call them Southern Pom-Pears etc, etc and Surrey still bloody won.

Can't post the article as it's behind the Telegraphs paywall but looks like the reports of the Hundreds demise have been greatly exaggerated. In fact it's going to be even BIGGER from 2025. Counties want the tournament expanded to 10 teams and the individual franchises will be able to be bought. New teams could be based in North East (Durham) and South West (Bristol) but ECB would like another London team.

I'm pleased to say I maintained my promise not to watch a single ball of this last summer. It was a struggle, because it meant there was no cricket in August. Yes, no cricket in August.

I used to be in love with the game. It's quickly becoming a passing interest.

I used to be a member of Middlesex. I wasn't a fan of there's, but the membership was cheap. I used to love spending a Saturday afternoon at Lords slowly getting drunk and watching championship cricket. I even used to pop over to the Oval after tea.

Lots of unintended 'used to' in there. That's about a summary of it.

Sadly those days are gone.

This is the obvious solution after England's failure in the World Cup. Play more matches in a format the rest of the world don't play.
Totally this.
Joe Root said he doesn't play enough 50 over cricket, maybe that's because he opts for the money on offer in The Hundred, you can't blame him but he can't have everything.

This seems to be the story with a lot of people. My parents have been members at Sussex for at least 10 years but they've decided not to renew for 2024 because there simply isn't enough cricket for them to go and watch. Especially during the summer months when it's most enjoyable.

I don't blame them, if I was getting on in years, will I suppose I am, I wouldn't want to watch half the championship games in the colder months. Actually, I think it's more than half.

I have completely ignored the hundred as a Somerset fan. Now they have a south west team I shall continue to ignore it. I genuinely don’t care.

We are crap at 50 over cricket and none of the good young players play it. I am sure that will improve us. Ffs.
