I can only see the roads in this country getting busier. If you leave at the wrong time especially the M25 your going to get stuck. Even in towns, everytime you get in the car its a mission.
It does not say much for the future of transport in this country. You can keep widening these motorways but we really need some alternatives or a solution.

Just driven from Brighton to Crawley and was held up 45 minutes by what looked like drain work at the side of the road at the bottom of Handcross Hill.

Multiple that time by 1000's of people and it's discusting. Were living in recession (apparently) and what does total small mindness like that do to the GDP of a country (assuming it happens in every county). Thick useless establishment.

To be honest I find your thread a disgrace and it completely typifies the naive impatient society we live in today.
You have a clear choice to make here. *Leave the existing highway network unmaintained so that it eventually falls apart and becomes dangerous for you and your family to use, or try and plan work to keep the roads healthy with timely upgrades to keep them safe. *
These professional engineers don't sit in their offices all day designing ways just to piss you off, they use their educated minds to try and help improve our country and way of life. *
Maybe you should grow up and try and contribute yourself.
