What the hell kind of piss-poor paintwork can be damaged by a rubber hose laying across it? Seagull shit left for a few days maybe . .

Most, when done repeatedly for a couple of years.

all pumps reach round on all cars if you get close enough. F - A - C - T

Spot-on,ok i only drive a Clio but have had bigger cars and simple really get in a straight line and close up to the pump and no problem and yes i have seen many a woman do it when a bloke can't its down to the driver and not the car. The times i have driven onto a pump on the 'wrong side' re-fuelled paid-up and gone whilst others are queing for England is unreal.

useless factoid due to it not actually being true.

it deeply saddens me to see men waiting for the 'right side' pumps and it makes me worry for this country's future.
Spot on. Little old ladies are exempt from this, but to see 'men' (I use the term loosely), doing it is deeply upsetting, I bet they're the sorts who use their wife's moistureiser, have trouble opening pickle jars and cry at the ending of Lassie.

And running a rubber hose over your car 'damages the paintwork'? I must have had cars with really exceptional paint jobs then as it's never happened to me - although I concede that if you lack the physical strength to use a petrol pump then the hose may slip and the metal nozzle could chip the paint.

f*** me you have a thread about this?

This and many other things my friend, and this one's shaping up to be a goody! They'll be tears before bedtime and flounces aplenty (and maybe the odd ban) before this one's finished!

You will be one of those people with a shite car, or can easily change your car regardless of cost, or stupid enough not to realise the damage to your paintwork.

Funny how you got managed to get everything wrong in a single post

Incidentally I can fill my 60 plate zafira from the wrong side and it does no damage to the paintwork as I wash my car regularly

Around here when all this was fields, Petrol was 4/6d a gallon, and proper football was played at the Goldstone. At the Grenadier in Hove, there was the Light Blue Filling Station. It was actually an ordinary shop premises with a pavement in front.
When you pulled up for your 1/2 gallon, a man rushed out and asked your requirements while another chap cleaned your windscreen. You could only arrive from one direction as Hangleton Road was a trend setter and is a dual carriage way. Having ascertained the type of petrol that was wanted the petrol dispensing man would get the hose from the desired pump, the hose was attached to an overhead arm that enabled the hose to cross the pavement and reach either side of the car. Genius.
Returning your keys if the car had a locking cap, not many did, and having scraped together your 2/3d you were sent on your way with a cheery wave and a thank you Sir.
Sadly the world is not like that anymore, and neither is the Light Blue Filling Station.

'judgement calls', NSC, criticizing behaviour, NSC, surely not.

I think you have NSC confused with somewhere else.

It amazes me the amount of people who still think that the petrol cap on a Ford Focus is on the offside rear.

This does my NUT in. I'd say that at 9/10 petrol stations, the pumps are easily long enough. Some even have massive signs for the total dins out there. All you have do to is follow these simple steps:

1 - Park close
2 - Pull further forward than you think you should
3 - Hold the hose with one hand and the pump in the other
4 - Don't be a MASSIVE SPESH

I don't get why people care. Surely if someone is queuing for the right side that leaves space for you to nip in and fill up at the empty pump.

What really grinds my gears is when someone is at Asda in Hollingbury on their own. They go to the left-hand side pumps and fill up, and then have to get out of the car to pay by card, when the pay at the pump is empty!!!

WHY!?!?!

Or just generally why anyone uses the kiosk to pay by card when pay at the pumps is empty. Are people still scared of these things in this day and age?

Because 48 hours ago we had our arses handed to us, in a sling.

What do you want to talk about...

What???

Who did we lose to?

You would think someone would mention it.

next you'll be telling me that there was some bad behaviour at the game too.
