Carting him off seemed a bit harsh.

In the aftermath I would have just booted him out and told him not to be so silly, in future.

No names no pack drill.

On this occasion I tend to agree, but as an old mate of mine used to say "supposing everybody did it?"

As a club you don’t condone it when a home fan pitch invades, but it’s one of those things. The issue is during covid imagine if he gave it to one of the players or an opposition fan gave it to an away team and they could directly trace it to us not being able to crowd control. The possible litigation it opens up could be considerable.

I have some sympathy but he’s still run down the stairs and climbed on the wall, probably easier to have stayed in / around his seat. But he was pushed so if anyone knows him put him in touch with the FSF to give him some legal advice.

Hopefully he didn’t accept a caution already …

To curb over enthusiasm the club from the next home game are going to super glue all supporters to their seats. Only upon the final whistle will a liquid de-bonder be passed around allowing you to leave your seat and the stadium. Gags will also be compulsory for anyone seen cheering or shouting too loudly.

Pitch invaders face bans and police action

https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/2453808

Judging by this statement it looks like common sense has left the building and he's got a life ban and off a gulag in the salt mines. I know they are monitored by why didn't the stewards just bundle him back into the crowd. The least malicious 'pitch invasion' you will see and almost looks like he was pushed too.

FREE THE WEBSTER ONE!

Pushed by his mate, a foot onto the hallowed asphalt.

Barber’s lost a sense of proportion on this one.

Very good point.

I'd like to see an optional two strikes and you're out policy. He's a young lad and is going to learn the hard way.

The Chelsea fan that lost his phone whilst being escorted out. The ref picked it up and shoved it in his pocket.
And confirming there were three fans who ran on after the whistle and all three were taken away. But as an away fan, in this case Chelsea, do they get the same 3 year footballing ban and how does a club know? Surely it's easy enough to buy tickets for mates.

As my dad would say about banning orders, 'they're not worth the paper they're written on' - or summat like that. To ban someone would entail all the stewards to a) know who to look out for and b) have time to actually look at the faces as people come in. A hat, a face mask, if a banned person wants to come in, i'd guess it's pretty easy.

I guess the deterrent associated with a FBO isn’t necessarily the fact that you can’t get into future games if you are determined to do so, but that it gives you a criminal record which for many will be problematic in many other areas of life (employment / foreign travel etc).

Can’t / won’t comment on the specifics / appropriateness of what happened last night as I wasn’t at the game. But if anyone thinks acquiring a FBO is just an inconvenience I suspect they are probably mistaken

Did the players make an attempt to move away from the fan(s), and jumping on each other? As I've said I'm no lawyer but I'm sure arguments like these could be used. I wonder what his mates were thinking when he was arrested?

I fear the club has lost all sense of perspective.

I don't. We are seeing more and more 'pitch invasions' (not just at our club but in the PL) - so the club need to make a strong statement to deter others.

I don’t think the club will just slap a 3 year ban on him. Hopefully an interview, chance for him to explain and perhaps a two match ban and a warning. The club has to take action otherwise it opens the floodgates.

I fear the club has lost all sense of perspective.

Perhaps we should wait until the punishment has been imposed before making such statements.

I'm not saying they won't be valid, in time.

It's in the clubs powers to push hard for the palace invaders to done to the full extent of the law.
Whereas they can go through the motions (possibly deterrent enough) with goal man last night and request a x GAME stadium ban.

strongly agree not allowed on pitch , i think that lad is 14-15 , and looked petrified with his hands in a surrender position .
Stewards should/could have noticed his youth and not treated him so roughly .
As a youngster at the goldstone i used to invade the pitch as a matter of course , surprised i didnt do it at half time as well

Didn't we all? Three and a half decades later we'd still be serving our lifetime bans and regretting our passion/exuberance! And we should celebrate as heroes those pitch invaders who chased Bellotti out of the Directors Box!! They were the beating heart of the club back then and remain the conscience of the club today. Bit sad they'd all be banned under present rules......
