My Sunderland mate said they've basically been playing second string teams to keep the main players fresh for the play-offs.

My Sunderland mate said the same.
He was also highly dubious on the merits of this.
I guess, to be fair, if a key player or two had been crocked in a pointless game then they'd have been hammered for that as well. It's just not ideal to be guaranteed a play of spot but also nowhere near the top two that early.

That’s not the case. There’s been SOME rotation, but most of their main players have played every game.

Today was essentially their strongest XI.

Yes - shocker. Obviously the linesman didn't see the flick on. I can't stand VAR but every time I see something like that in a big game for the clubs involved, it seems mad not to have it.

A still frame makes it look worse. The ball had just been cleared, then headed straight back in, at which point Kelman was well onside. The crucial flick wasn't the most obvious - unfortunate one for the lino (and Stockport).
