Wood stumps are splattered... and it's lunch on Day Three

England 506-8 (96 overs), leading by 189

122-4 in the session @ just over 5 an over. The game is moving on.

Can't think the last time England made 500 against Australia. Certainly did in 2010/11.

I might take a few more minutes after lunch to try and add a quick 30.

They'll probably do the opposite, purely because Australia are expecting the declaration. Bristow gets his 50, England get the psychological lead of 200 and then the Aussies get a couple of tough sessions (minus a little bit) to negotiate.

All over by the end of the day

TMS said it was 1985 in England (if I heard correctly).

Yep, apparently:

This is the first time since 1985 that England have made 500 in a home Ashes Test. They have done it six times in Australia since then, last in Sydney in 2011.
And:
That is the fastest 500 England have got in this country since 1985 at Edgbaston.

It's the fourth fastest 500 in Test history. England also hold the first and second record in Rawalpindi and Ireland.

How many overs do we lose for change of innings? Could be key in deciding whether or not to have a post-lunch swing. Although, the more we get now the less chance there is of England having to bat again. More importantly, the wicket will deteriorate a little bit more.
