I think the punishment should reflect the stupidity of the call, in respect of the par of the hole in question.

Thus:

If they shout GETINTHEHOOOOOOLLLLLEEEE! on the tee of a par THREE, they should be punched hard in the face TWICE.

If they shout GETINTHEHOOOOOOLLLLLEEEE! on the tee of a par FIVE, they should be punched hard in the face FOUR TIMES.

And for "You the man" ....... A nine iron round the back of their head.

Many moons ago someone made the point it was all connected to the insular nature of US sports.

What with Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey, NASCar and Football (their's not the rest of the worlds) all solely played within the confines of North America.
While Tennis, Athletics, Olympic games et al, don't draw the atmospheric crowd support, that say Soccer, Rugby, Cricket do.

So they are rarely faced with true international competition, and so aren't exposed to international supporters.
