Kilo officially retired from football today after Woking’s National League game at Sutton, he’d been The Cards GK coach since leaving Worthing last summer.

Signed by Alan Mullery in the summer of 1986, he played 138 times for the Albion, won promotion in 87/88, and player of the year in 88/89.

My two favourite Kilo moments were when they pulled him out of the stadium pub at 2.20pm in September 1988 when Perry Digweed didn’t turn up after not checking Barry Lloyd’s team sheet the day before 😂, and when he saved a penalty from Liam Brady, then playing for West Ham, when Albion beat the Hammers at the Goldstone in 89/90.

And years later, he took my sister in law out on a date and married her 👍🍾

A genuine fan’s favourite, enjoy your retirement John ⚽

My sister in law 's neighbours were JK's parents and she got to Know John on his many visits - always pleasant and friendly.

He doesn't remember the game.

I managed to freak him out at London Bridge when he was lost looking for the toilet. From memory he approached me asking for directions but as I knew he was up for SOL I was able to tell him where he was going after his piss as well.
