Well done Pope. If we can add another 60+, there’s an outside chance…

In the field
Absolutely brilliant innings from Pope. Agree that if we can set a target of at least the low 200s, then we have a small chance. If the pitch starts to do more of what happened when Foakes was bowled, it could become very interesting indeed.

Whatever happens, we've not been blown away in this game (despite some of the worrying signs in the middle part of India's innings), so that bodes well for the rest of the series at least.

Test cricket hopefully still has a place in the modern game today. This seems to be more entertaining than a lot of the games in the boring 50 over world cup recently.

It was noticeable when Pope got his ton the Indians in the crowd applauded him. Big contrast to the world cup final at the same ground when Travis Head was met with silence when he got his. Good to see some proper cricket fans watching a Test match.

But is that more to do with the fact that Head is allegedly a complete bellend?

Shame that leach is injured so we are a bowler down. They are talking on the radio saying he might not even bat. Surely he will but I assume he won’t bowl. This is a huge shame for England as he has been the most economical bowler in the match. I still expect India to win but if we can get a couple of early wickets and without kohli it could be one of the most remarkable wins ever.

That one almost rolled along the ground. Root could be really tricky to play on this pitch with his round arm. Maybe it could be the arrival of young Ahmed.

Please let’s see pope get 200

Shame to have to got to 419-7 and then be 420 all out, but still - we have something to bowl at.

Aussies need 41 to beat the Windies but are 8 down. King pair for Travis
That must be the Sussex Travis Head. They have been playing a different one in recent times.
