Verbruggen
Veltman, JPvH, Dunk, Perv
Baleba, Hinsh
Minteh, Ayari, March
Welbeck

Dropping Wieffer feels harsh, only really necessary if Veltman is 100% fit. I'd go for Ayari in the 10 ahead of O'Riley

For this specific game, if Lamptey has any minutes in him yet, I'd love him to get on because he was unplayable up there in the cup. I'd start with Weiffer unless Veltman in fit. I also want Mitoma up against Trippier and Minteh up against Livramento as their pace really will trouble both fullbacks and keep them penned in. As a result, I'd go:

Verbruggen
Weiffer-JPvH-Dunk-Estupinan
Baleba-Hinshelwood
Minteh-O'Riley-Mitoma
Welbeck

Whatever the selection you can’t have a left hand side comprising Adingra and Pervis. Like Christmas morning for decent opposition.
This would be necessity over choice, as with much of the selection this season.

This is assuming there is a problem with Mitoma, if not, clearly he plays

See my post on page 1 of this thread.

I suggested several reasons why Ayari I think could drop in behind Welbz as a MF pivot instead of O’Riley. Think outside the box - Fab isn’t a positional orientated tactician - It doesn’t have to be a traditional 10 role - in fact look at how Hürzeler used Hartel at St Pauli. A central midfielder who moved higher in possession to back up the CF because the CD (Smith) would move into the MF. It was no coincidence that Hartel was SPs highest goal scorer before he transfered.

I’m sure Fab will use O’Riley there because for some reason he really favours him and O’Riley is good at attacking the space - but personally I think Ayari is more proactive, a better ball carrier, makes better decisions and is faster at tracking back. More importantly to make an impact around the edge of 18 yard area, IMO he is a class act on one-touch football in tight spaces.
Using the Hartel analogy Weiffer is by far more likely but it will surely be O’Riley

JPVH, Lamptey, Veltman, Mitoma, Igor and Webster all fit.

Georgi could be back before end of the season.
Is that all defenders apart from Ferdi fit then? Amazing. Although I can't imagine Igor will be fit to start, likewise Veltman. Webster might be in contention though.

yep. Webster is back training - but imagine not an option.

The rest - JPVH, Lamptey, Veltman, Mitoma and Igor are all "options to start." as FAB puts it .

An option to be in the squad he said regarding Webster..

''Adam Webster joined [in training] yesterday, so he will be also maybe be an option to be in the squad.''

I don't think Wieffer can be dropped. He has been playing too well. But I think Veltman will be back. Mitoma would start if there is no back pain.

A defensive line-up against a very good attacking team:

--------------------Verbruggen-------------------
Veltman-----JPvH--------Dunk-------Estupiñán
--------Wieffer-----------------Baleba------------
March---------------O'Riley--------------Adingra
---------------------Welbeck----------------------
This.

This number of defensive options is untold riches compared to what the manager is used to.

I wonder if we might see some sort of Veltman for 60 mins, Wieffer for 30 at right back. And some sort of Pervis for 60 mins, Tariq for 30 at left back.

I also wonder whether Cashin might find himself out of the squad if Igor does indeed return

Ah just posted on the Rutter thread as saw no quote. What’s the exact quote on Rutter anyone?

He didn’t quote say the others were ‘fit’ either:

Joel Veltman, Tariq Lamptey, Karou Mitoma and Igor Julio are also in contention to play, with Adam Webster another who returned to training this week: "We have a lot more options so it is all looking a lot more positive."

With what we now have available, PLEASE can we see 4 actual defenders line up on Sunday? Newcastle will tear us a new one if not.

In which case we will win all our remaining games and qualify for Europe.
That would be fine. Drowe past 3Arena yesterday evening, listening to sports on the radio. They were sending from the arena having just seen Chels*ite come on to the pitch.

I hope it’s BHA next year in the Conference League!

4-3-3 to cope with their midfield. However, FH likes to end the game with a superior team so might hold back a couple of aces.

Bart

Velts. JPVH Dunk Perv
Hinsh Wieff. Baleba
Solly Welbz Dingra

strong bench: Igor, Lamps, Kuba, Mito, O'R, Gruda, Yash

How on earth after the last few matches can anyone propose Adingra starts ahead of Mitoma? That's a really solid looking team except for Adingra who is about as solid as a plate of jelly. With the players who might return Sunday I'd actually say Adingra might be lucky to make the bench.
