Pity Shearers not gone either…..i rate only Hart of the current Saturday night team….to me Lineker isn’t in the same league as Desmond Lynam…but then I guess that’s from a time when you were limited to MOTD and The Big Match …..I personally won’t miss him ..but then Ive not been a regular viewer of MOTD for some while…I’ll leave you all to grieve 😉
I don't mind Big Al so much actually, quite warmed to him in fact. I liked Ian Wright too before he jumped ship, but as for the rest, meh really.

There was a time when l thought that our Muzza might appear more often to offer his insight, but it didn't seem to happen.

It seems there is so much of modern life that's passing you by. A bit sad, really

Reese-Mogg in particular stating that ‘you could understand all the penalty calls clearly without commentary’ 🤣
An example of why when people say 'right wing' the words 'knob', 'twat' and 'pillock' pop instantly into one's head.

I just hope people remember who is behind his leaving so abruptly. Brave man to stand up and be counted. They always used to beat him with the stick of his salary as if he was somehow to blame for that! Won’t be quite the same without him but life goes on, for most of us.

I always liked him as a player and as presenter on MOTD. But he's in a mire of his own making, the recent reposting of an anti-semitic rat image was the final straw for his bosses. Not a lot of sympathy for him I'm afraid.

I consider myself quite socially aware but I for one didn't know that a rat image was anti semitic. There are many i did know of but not that one.

After the Lineker debate i googled it and found an interesting article from 2015 about a daily mail cartoon where Mac had used rats in relation to migrants who caused the france terrorist attacks. There was outrage but the Mail defended their position.

If only he'd just focused on football instead of straying into areas that he knows little about, he'd probably still have a job.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
He was always going to leave MOTD at the end of this season, but was going to cover next year’s World Cup, so causing upset with his tweet is just a smoke screen from the BBC.
Here’s an article from last November announcing his intention

What's missed in the majority of the commentary is the post he made wasn't an image - it was a video. A really powerful video with Lawyer testimony that wasnt in the least bit anti-semitic.

Based on Gary's previous human rights advocacy It's way more plausible he either didn't see the rat or didn't know it's wider meaning.

The video itself is worth watching
