His comment about your team always being last on MOTD made me smile.
Unlike when he called us effing Bournemouth after we'd just stuffed Tottenham. Must admit that opera doesn't move me at all and I spent the closing montage pettily searching for clips of the Albion. One seagull, half of our goal of the season and being the opponents while other teams scored.

Our manager was one of the very few not shown at all. Thought he may have been part of the story as I recently found out that he's actually the youngest permanent manager ever in the league. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that.

Phew - his last act was making Mitoma goal of the season when the other fella went for a Man City love in 😁

You know what, there will be some who are OUTRAGED at his Bournemouth slip. Twitter will be awash with anger. It is fair to say, we didn't get enough time tonight or enough NICE THINGS said about us.

Loved the Wet Sham graphic too

But all is forgiven by picking Mitoma as Goal of the Season

I actually though all of the other 5 were pretty underwhelming. Jackson's one wasn't goal of the season by any standard, just an astounding pre-assist pass from Palmer, the Fulham one was decent and the rest were just hard shots

I grew up with Gary leading the line for England so he’s always been a bit of a hero. Lovely tribute at the end of the program. I’m now off to find out who’s chopping onions at this time of the morning.
Yep. He was my first football hero, loved him and still do today. Gutted he’s not presenting it anymore, will miss him.

Though glad about the three coming in to replace him - all three excellent presenters in their own way.

I love MOTD and not just because of sentimentality or tradition, there is no better packaged up football highlights show out there.

Right up there as one of my all time footballing heroes, starting from when my dad (who didn’t even like football) inexplicably woke me up one night in June 1986 with the words “Get up and come downstairs, England have just gone 2-0 up against Poland” - so I got to see Lineker complete his hat trick.

A sensational numbers goal scorer who would be worth over £100m today without any doubt.

And then aside from Des, he’s easily been the best presenter of live football to grace the screens. It’s no wonder ITV get trounced with the awful hosts they put up though.

Glad to still be able to listen to his podcast but I’m sure he’ll pop up on tv in some format for the World Cup next year.

A genuine legend of the sport.

Sometimes I liked him, sometimes I didn't but I must say I'll miss him on MOTD. Nice little tribute on the show, well deserved tbf. Sadly couldn't understand a word Gazza said though...
Just be grateful we got Gary Lineker and not his brother Wayne.

Nice of him to admit it finally.

I’m sure Chappers won’t let that happen to us.
