Yep he is dead, my Gran says so, and she knows everything in Shoreham ( most grans do).

I remember him from late 60s to 70's as the Mad Major, but my gran says there was another mad major before him in the early and mid sixties (and my gran is bigger than you're gran) :lolol:

Perseus, I think you should know.

There is a bit of a similarity, don't you think?

Perhaps we should have a poll. Are Perseus and the Duke one and the same?

I like eccentrics and wish there were more of them about.

Sadly these days the 'political correctness' brigade would have him carted off and sectioned.

I remember him as Horace and he used to appear all over the place. In later years I remember he had motorcycles, there were ofetn articles about him in the local paper.

Now whats the name of the pub behind him in the picture? Demolished some time ago but used to do a decent keg cider in the 80s.

We used to have a roadsweeper In Mile Oak/Portslade in the 1960s who would collect dead birds and put them on a tray on top of his bin.
He used to tell us that he took them home and made a stew from them.
We all believed him .... thinking back it was possibly true!!!

There was also an old witch who lived in an old cottage in Mile Oak with a jungle of a garden.

Unfortunately, he was also extemely and disrespectfulrude to women innit

One of the girls who used to travel up to London with us on the train related a story where he had to be spoken to by the local constabulary for being offensive.

Outside the King's Head circa 1920. They all seemed to wear hats back then.

I also Vaguely remember as I got a little older and taking note of things, the comments about his darker side as it were.

Didn't know then or now if it was just gossip or not?
