Stockport County

Got to admire the way Newport County avoided Wrexham in the play-off semis. Seven reserve team players in last Saturday's match against Grimsby (including the worst goalkeeper in professional football) ensured a 3-0 defeat and a play-off encounter with ...er... Grimsby (who will have learned absolutely nothing from the game).
Impressive attendance for a match with no effect on promotion (4,555).
Tonight's result

interesting this how far we've come/County have fallen in a short period of time thingy. My son's first ever match was v Stockport and it was a Third Division relegation battle in front of 7000 at Withdean. By the time his FIFTH birthday gets here we could be 2/3rds into a Premier League season

Obviously not. Superphil and I intend going to the Play-Off Final to celebrate Newport County tonking our friends from Wrexham.

But we both recognise that this is a minority point of view on NSC.

PS. Wrexham v Kiddy in the first leg of the playoff semis this evening. Grimsby v Newport tomorrow.

Just got back from Blundell Park after being in with the noisy Newport fans. Fully deserved win for the 'Port. Decent turnout of approx 800 fans as well considering the distance on a cold Wednesday evening.

A close game, by the sound of the commentary on Newport City Radio. But an 89th minute winner is always welcome.

Sunday's game at Rodney Parade is live on S4C.
