Saving Private Ryan
Agree 100%
He said it was his greatest achievement. ET is his favourite.
He has of course made some great films (with equally great budgets) and I have enjoyed most of the films listed by US. However I do find his work overtly sentimental, too glossy and lacking in subtlety.
Oh! All-right then Saving Private Ryan is my favourite. ( As were your hand gestures to Saints supporters.)
For me sentimentality is not a bad thing. In an often cold and cynical World , I love Spielberg the most for the hope he sends out. From the Alien getting home, to the impossible of finding good amoungst the Holocaust.
I have applied to Mastermind - specialist subject , the films of Steven Spielberg.
Good call CM. I would say AI is hugely underrated.
Jaws.
A film in two parts. The first hour focussing on the attacks in the town and the second on the developing relationship between the three main actors. It was the first proper Summer blockbuster and is in my top ten films of all time.
Always on the other hand is frankly dreadful.
Munich , yes. Sod it. Is that 1 vote ?
A classic in my eyes Unc. Haley Joel Osment's performance is one to behold (the less said about his more recent drink/drug driving conviction the better)
I'd probably just go for Schindler because the acting was better but it is a tad long
