Yep. They were very impressive.
As Adkins said, Lallana came on and changed the game at HT.
They had 4 or 5 great opportunities and on another day, they could have won 4 or 5-1.
We had 2 (?) efforts. The goal, and one Wood really should have done better with.
Whether we were taking it easy or not (which I don't think we were), they were clearly the better team on the day.

As much as it pains me to admit it - on the second half performance alone, they deserved the win today. They were obviously right up for the game & we were second best imo. That said, their right back should arguably been sent-off for a dreadful challenge in the 1st half; that bald-headed bastard should certainly have been given his marching orders early in the 2nd 45; & that was a NAILED-ON penalty when Muzza was brought down when we were still 1-up (& their 'keeper might well have been dismissed too).

Hey bleedin' ho. Good job we're already the champions innit?!

Having said that, if the officials had done their job properly, and awarded a penalty and sent off Davies (that was an assault, not a foul), the result could have been very different.

It wasn't a foul, or an assault, it was a bloody good, and brave, save.

Best side down here since Leeds last season. Very good side and thought they played some very good football too.

I thought it was telling that once Murray went off, we were far less comfortable dealing with set pieces.

We also could do with a bit more pace in the middle at the back.

I think El Abd will have to be replaced, a shame as he has been excellent for the last season and a half but we need someone bigger and faster in the Championship.

They deserved the win, but I can't help think we were the masters of our own undoing today. I took one thing from it today, and that was Southampton just launched balls continually into the box. From memory I can only think of one opportunity in which they didn't launch it, but launch it they did. Now, the reason we lost it ourselves was that we kept giving it straight back to them in our half to allow them to bombard the area.

Not pretty, but effective, obviously. I don't think we played very well today, whether down to them not allowing us to play or because we just did not turn up

Got a feeling the celebrations of the last week took its toll today. Southampton just needed it more than us.If we weren't already up it would have been different. Pissed off they beat us though.

I don't get how people can say they just launched into the box when for the first time this season their two centre backs probably passed it between themselves more than ours did.

Exactly what I was about to say. And Hammong strolled around knocking the ball about.

You could say the same of stoke though? I was very impressed with their play at St Marys, they absolutely demolished us whilst also playing some really attractive football, but today I lost count of the number of aimless hoofs up the pitch I saw, maybe it was the half fit lallana but there was a distinct route one taint to everything.

Well it'll be interesting - albeit academic - if your take on the incident was right there, sam. Looked like a deffo pen to me tbh.

What? Demolished us 0-0 at St Mary's? They had us under the cosh for half an hour, more so than any other team has managed this season. But even the Saints fans I know felt that in the second half, the longer it went there was only one likely winner - and it wasn't Southampton. But for our penalty jinx, that would have been another three points too.

They came at us and came so close to scoring so many times in a way that not other team has managed all season.

Ive been reading to many articles, threads & interviews about todays game, so i want to share my opnion. I more than anyone wanted to shove Adkins words right down his throat today, however even though we have already done that by winning the league, i believe we got it totally wrong tactically today. Southampton deserved the win, they quite simply wanted and needed it more. What i can understand is why we played so deep today, i cant remember us playing with such a negative attitude. Poyet commented they are bigger and physically stronger, so WHY let them constantly put balls in our penalty area, which basically there two goals came from. I remember Greers sending off and automatically thinking straight to the southampton game. But after reading many gloats of the saints fans saying enjoy it while it lasts, just rememeber we have clearly won this division with a squad put together with about the same amount of money that Lambert cost alone. Next year we will be like a boxer who has been fighting with one hand tied behind his back, finally being allowed to use both. Financially we will be able to compete with teams like southampton. Just remember southampton were 5/2 favourites to win this league, if they go up or not, they have already under achieved what many experts thought they would do. GUS POYET I LOVE YOU
