Considering the endless grief a referee can get off of players it's a miracle someone hasn't gone conpletely off the rails as it is.
Personally, I'm looking forward to Southampton leading the charge into a new era of professionalism by publicly admonishing any of their players for future misconduct towards referees...surely anything else would indicate double standards?
Wouldn't that be amazing !
Which bit? A club taking responsibility for players actions (especially after publicly slating an official) or a referee going off the rails in a spectacular, yet amusing, fashion?
A club actually trying to discourage it's players from getting at a ref. Unfortunately it won't happen as it seems that harassing a ref is obligatory these days.
Would be good wouldn't it?
Sadly, it's now accepted as 'part of the game', so any club doing so would likely have to endure a small fan backlash from those who believe they're missing out on decisions (the same subset who see diving as an acceptable part of the game). It'd last until the results go wrong, same as anything.
If anyone ever said that to me, I'd kick their head in.
Yes, it's this " Get on to the ref straight away and get him under pressure." thing almost as soon as they kick off.
Cringeworthy story. This story AND Brendan Rogers pointed remarks about the Greater Manchester ref for the City game too. The Respect campaign is clearly making a difference.
Couldn't agree more...people just look for the slightest smear...(which this wasn't)...to try and justify why they lost....man up you pansiesStruggling with how this can be interpreted as an insult
quote "You're very different now you've played for England. You never used to be like this."
Where is the insult? It's just Clattenburgs' opinion isn't it?
Funny how Southampton's recent complaints in the FA's direction have coincided with their dramatic dip in form from earlier on in the season. Just when I was starting to admire them(slightly), they remind us what a tinpot club they are.
