Lallana was (probably) a Bellend before he was capped on this evidence.

Considering the endless grief a referee can get off of players it's a miracle someone hasn't gone conpletely off the rails as it is.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Southampton leading the charge into a new era of professionalism by publicly admonishing any of their players for future misconduct towards referees...surely anything else would indicate double standards?

Wouldn't that be amazing !

Which bit? A club taking responsibility for players actions (especially after publicly slating an official) or a referee going off the rails in a spectacular, yet amusing, fashion?

A club actually trying to discourage it's players from getting at a ref. Unfortunately it won't happen as it seems that harassing a ref is obligatory these days.

Would be good wouldn't it?

Sadly, it's now accepted as 'part of the game', so any club doing so would likely have to endure a small fan backlash from those who believe they're missing out on decisions (the same subset who see diving as an acceptable part of the game). It'd last until the results go wrong, same as anything.

Yes, it's this " Get on to the ref straight away and get him under pressure." thing almost as soon as they kick off.

Cringeworthy story. This story AND Brendan Rogers pointed remarks about the Greater Manchester ref for the City game too. The Respect campaign is clearly making a difference.

That's the one! Any attempt to change it is likely to run into the 'if other teams do it so should we' mentality (again, like diving, time wasting etc.).

No worse than Moyes moaning about the tackles on januza or whatever, when Man Utd used to target the opposition playmaker with all sorts of kicks, it's boring repetitive whining to make any excuse for not winning.

There's a difference between run of the mill moaning about penalties and questioning the integrity of our top referees. Rogers has done himself no favours here. In fact, he should shut the **** up altogether because Liverpool are nothing but a one-man team and when Suarez leaves they'll be back battling Newcastle for 7th place.

I remember a player once said to a ref " You are only booking me because we are on TV" and the ref said "well turn around and smile because I'm sending you off!"

Clattenburg is our top ref! Better than Howard Webb after his recent performances...

Leave Clatters alone!

Struggling with how this can be interpreted as an insult
quote "You're very different now you've played for England. You never used to be like this."
Where is the insult? It's just Clattenburgs' opinion isn't it?
Couldn't agree more...people just look for the slightest smear...(which this wasn't)...to try and justify why they lost....man up you pansies

Funny how Southampton's recent complaints in the FA's direction have coincided with their dramatic dip in form from earlier on in the season. Just when I was starting to admire them(slightly), they remind us what a tinpot club they are.

Champions League qualification :lolol:

I think this is the point. Since the international break in November, they've played 9 PL games, winning 1, drawing 2 and losing 6 - that's 5 from a possible 27 points. This is about dealing with the pressure of losing games and it's pretty clear they're struggling to do that. Their next 3 games starting today give them a good opportunity to turn their results around but if they come up short, it could get messy.

Laughably pathetic complaint, they should be fined for bringing the game into disrepute for an allegation that sounded serious and has just wasted everybody's time and questioned the refs integrity. Shameful decision to raise & the person responsible at the club should be sacked
