Where do you think Soton will finish in the Premier? After spending £7million on Rodriguez they obviously think very highly of themselves.

I reckon they'll flirt with the top half before settling at around 15th place.

What a strange conclusion to draw!

I'm fairly sure they'd be delighted with a mid table finish, and most would actually settle for simply staying up.

Why does (over)spending on a striker from the Championship, suggest that they have 'delusions of grandeur'?

If anything I wuld suggest it means that they are far from delusional, and well aware that their current squad isn't nearly good enough - thus the panic buy.

Hate to say it, but I honestly think Southampton will stay in The Premiership for many years to come. They have plenty of money, good support and I think they will be middle, top half of the table.

Please correct me, but have they not enjoyed top flight football in the past. History just dictates that it will happen again.

If we can establish ourselves as top half Championship club I would be really happy. We should be a top half club considering our stadium, support.

What amazes me is the inflatin on championship players, 7m ? Huddersfield want 4 m for Rhodes and he's only ever played in League1.

they will do okay first season back up - the traditional strong start for a promoted club then drift to lower mid table.
Adkins is a prick and a gobshite (but unfortunately it seems, a decent manager). Southampton as a club are okay.

Good luck to them. Good crowds, good financial backing backing, young English manager, excellent coaching staff. Hopefully we will join them in the next few years. And I would much rather them be there than another Lancashire club.

If we ahd just got to the Premiership and spent £7million on what seesm to be a good player I would be delighted.

Won't happen though. The ole NSC Additch will come In to play. We can't afford his wages.

I think Swansea and Norwich could both struggle with second season syndrome which may be enough to keep Saints up, otherwise they would be odds on for relegation

ADkins is a berk - in the way he reacted and cajoled the Albion fans in the head to ehads in the league one campaign.

However he is clearly very good at his job and without blue tinted glasses on one cannot really deny the fact that they are a big club, with solid financial backing (it would appear) and fantastic support.

Are they a long-term bet to stay in the premiership? Yes. They probably are.

Now back to the albion.............
