I believe it was £6million and it won't all be up front, I imagine it was probably £4mill upfront, the rest added on. I would say it's a very good signing as he's only 22 and is quality, made team of the year and is held in high regard by many. We will have a front four of Lambert, Rodriguez, Sharp and Lee which should provide enough goals to keep us up. Next priority is two CB's, GK and CM. Possibly a RB, but I think Richardson could do a job for a season. Don't want too many new players or we could disrupt the dressing room. No delusions of Granduer, There is still some dross left in the league and I believe we'll have the quality to finish 11-15th in our first season.

Good luck to them. Good crowds, good financial backing backing, young English manager, excellent coaching staff. Hopefully we will join them in the next few years. And I would much rather them be there than another Lancashire club.

I feel similar. Whenever I have been to St Mary's the locals have been friendly and welcoming, and the ground is decent too. A marked contrast from the other lot from Hampshire.

Atkins has taken them from the bottom of L1 to the Premiership in 19 months, which is a superb achievement. I still think his refusal to give the Albion a guard of honour when we had won L1 was petty, small minded and unnecessary, and becoming of a bitter Woolyback, but on the pitch he has done a great job for them.

Unfortunately i think they'll be ok. Good manager (twat), good coaching staff (ex-albion), mid sized ground (noughties flat pack bowl), mid-sized crowds (restricted by mid-sized stadium), mid-sized ambitions, mid-sized club with good financial backing, everything is "mid" about them so they'll in the mid-table leaugue for some time to come without ever disturbing the top four/five unless they expand and fill their stadium.

I do find this Southampton bashing very tiresome. 3 years ago they just simply werent on our radar. They have good support and financial backing and are more than equiped to sustain Premiership football. Good luck to them.

They seemed to be set up for surviving in the Premier League last season , my guess is 18th.

Sorry, where is this 'Southampton bashing?' Because most replies seem fairly complimentary to me.

If they get a good start they should survive I would go for 15th or 16th not as good as Wet Sham (unfortunately) but better than Reading who I see struggling.

I was referring to tone of the OP and probably 80% of all the posts relating to them over the last 2 seasons. Would you disagree that there is a minor obsession with hating them then on NSC then?
