You could...

But where does this magical £50m come from? That's a f*ck of a big bet to be making with someone else's money.

What happens if we splash this cash and DON'T get promoted?
What happens if we get relegated and have the wage bill still to pay and none of the "vast sums" coming in?

This attitude is what puts clubs in administration, selling their stadiums and crashing down the divisions.

How many clubs in the PL actually make money? How many of those that make money do so because they are an established global brand and how many because they are actually financing the club sustainability.

You've taken what I said totally out of context. Read the previous comments in the thread.

I never said that bloom would spend £50 million, I said it hypothetically.

I think the problem with Albion is like a mirror-image of Cardiff. Unlike Vincent Tan who presumably is resident here but has no historical link to Cardiff (witness all the kerfuffle about changing the shirts etc) you have TB who is died-in-the-wool Albion but is resident at the other end of the world for a lot of the year.

So instead of too much control by the owner, you may have too little. And of course you don't really know how deep TB's pockets are. If there was a worldwide crackdown on internety gambling, which could happen sometime in the future, those pockets might not be so deep in the future...

Be careful he might end up playing at the AMEX. Then you'll have tio delete this, eh? I think Parr might not be part of Pulis's plans for the future.

You do realise that its not actually Parr in the icon?

..and that Bloom's businesses are in property, not in 'internety gambling'?

Is he a left back ? We'll need one if we don't re-sign Ward.

What are you talking about? Are you drunk?

True, I don't know Bloom's exact wealth. I know little, other than the fact that there's deep enough pockets to build all the infrastructure we have.

Are you jealous or something?

I love everyone's optimism, but I can't think of any reason why oscar left. We all gave him our support right till the end where we ended up in the playoffs, a great achievement considering injuries and the January transfer market. The only explanation is the fact that oscar didn't do the signings... Burke did. Now that is the clubs fault and if that keeps happening, we'll keep losing managers and keep losing players.

Perhaps you need to think harder rather than just jump on the anti Burke bus. We scraped into the play-offs and next year we will be competing against three relegated teams who all have massive parachute payments to support them and who will not be subject to FFP in their first year. That's one reason. Another could be that he has a couple of other options abroad acted with a bit of integrity rather than trying to engineer a sacking. His family might not like England. There are a whole host of possibly reasons, not the 'only explanation' that you allude to!

Burke does a really important job and he's unfairly flamed on here. He ensures that negotiations with agents are conducted professionally and in line with what's ultimately good for the football club. A manager wouldn't do that, they would be motivated mainly by what's good for them and their career.
If it were my money bank rolling the club then I'd do the same as we are doing, I bet secretly you would too

I blame anyone whose surname begins with a 'B'.

String 'em up, hang 'em all, nail 'em up, rawhide!

That £120 Million looks good but what is their wage bill? If they went silly then that money won't last long. If they've been sensible (like Palace) then they are in good shape.

Twenty players on £40K a week would still leave you with 2/3 of your £120 million.........

Why on earth are we letting the likes of Orlandi and David go? So much for the flair........

Do you GENUINELY think they are both worth a new contract after their performances last season?

It's harsh, but neither of them have done enough to force the club's hand. We've handed out too many contracts in the past, based on sentiment, this has got to change if we want to be taken seriously.

Tony Bloom put in close to £150 million of his own money. The ONLY chance he has of getting some of that money back, is by getting the club to the Premier League. If we agree that to say "he has no desire to get any of his £150 million back" would be complete nonsense (which is basically what you are saying but we'll let that go), then his options are: a) gamble another £50 million and hope it gets us there, but there are no guarantees it would work, and if it goes wrong the future of the club could be at risk (see Pompey, Leeds etc) or b) run the club sustainably, making it as self-sufficient as possible by investing in youth and setting the budget at a level to keep us in with a shout of the play-offs each year, meaning when we finally get the chance and take it we'll be able to invest to stay in the Premier League without gambling with the future of the club, resulting in long-lasting, sustainable success at the highest level.

So which option would you take?

Best and most sensible post on here for a long time. Well spoken commander.

No just (unlike a lot of Albion's fans) realistic. The whole of the AMEX dream is financially dependant on TB. Before he offered to fund it, it was just a toke-dream.

And the internet betting business has been threatened by legislation a few times.

My apologies if I'm wrong on both points. But I did think Mr Bloom had interests in online gambling. If of course he's making molto moola from the London property boom or bloom then good luck to him. But when it bursts..
