Nice on Marc, shame about all the negativity on here from others. We should all get behind the national team, they need our support not criticism.
I also have to laugh when people say they don't care about the national team and threads like this go to 5 pages within an hour or so of the announcement being made.
Come on JT and the rest of the eleven pulling on the famous three lions, make the nation proud.

Caring is one thing, watching the dross for 90 mins is a completely different ball game ( not a very well played one 9 times out of 10). Once England can entertain me again I'll take an interest in watching. Strangely enough McClaren's team produced some of the most entertaining games I've seen in a while and had me watching.

As I heard pointed out on the radio this afty. All the players involved in the CL Final were given the option of skipping that trip to T&T at the end of the season for the worthless friendly over there.
Terry duley skipped it. Ferdinand went.
OK, its not exactly an unpleasant place to go, but after a 9-10 month football season, Ferdinand could have been forgiven for thinking like Terry and saying "naaah....stuff that", and doing his own thing instead. But he didn't. He went.
Ferdinand isn't ideal captain material, but he's more worthy than Terry.

The superb performances in Bejing with 16 Golds from people earning nothing or a fraction of the likes of Terry, Lampard, A.Cole etc and do it because they love the sport, the challenge and the country shows how much this bunch of overpaid, under talented players have abjectly FAILED to deliver ANYTHING for 42 years but particularly the last 6 years when the crem of English football, the best group of players since 1966 on £ 100000 a year between them FAILED to even qualify for the Euro 2008.
I do not understand how ANYONE can get worked up , pay and go and watch these players or even be bothered to watch it on TV.
Capello will not deliver anything except BOREDOM. We will probably scrape into the World Cup finals, 2 whole years away and then fail as we always do with a tame capitulation in the 2nd round or quarter finals. Utterly predictable. As soon as tosser like Terry and Ashely Cole have worked through the system and we get rid of every last one of this squad and we get new players in with the principle and ethics of someone like Lineker or Shearer we may be able to move forward again but thats 10 years down the line.
I have contempt for the English football team and have no respect whatsoever for them. the only decent men are Beckham and Gerrard and add Rooney who does always give 100%.
