Gave up 7 years ago after over 20 years of puffing away, best day's work i every did, although some people still get pleasure from the odd cancer stick,i can't see it happening by 2050.

Of course it will.

When smokers get denied access to the health services,it will be over even sooner.

And the country will suffer. £12.1 billion in tax this year alone generated by the sale of fags and tobacco. Where is that going to come from when everyone packs up?

Not sure how much it cost the NHS to treat smokers this year but you can take that cost off the figure.

Maybe legalise a far less dangerous drug such as MDMA, that might make up some of the shortfall.

Just come back from holiday in Formentera, where 90% of the tourists are Italian of whom 90% appear to smoke. There was, therefore, over an 80% chance of someone blowing their foul smelling smoke over you when having a meal, as the no smoking laws are incredibly lax there. Really appreciate that in the UK you can, at least, escape from cigarette smoke if you want to.

That'll be £5bn a year. So the country profits to the tune of £7.1bn a year. That'll do.

In the long run the NHS would lose out because people were living longer

The money would be spent on other items, and taxed, retaxed and taxed again and again ad infinitum so it would end up in the pot just the same.

But if smokers couldnt access any health service,do you really think people would smoke?

And if the rich paid their way without clever offshore exemption schemes, there would be plenty of tax revenue to go round.

Maybe we should all take up smoking we'll save a fortune.

Give people the choice , die from a cancer related disease or die from an obesity related disease or live to a ripe old age and end up senile :lolol:
