A coach full of Brighton nutters was not allowed into Sheffield last year, police turned the coach back just outside Sheffield and escorted them all the way back to Brighton.

They weren't the brightest bunch.....coach they booked was bright YELLOW and they were clocked by Sussex police from the minute they left Moulsecomb (sp)!!!!

And Leeds fans will certainly go for it. These 18 or so idiots will mean that a lot of Brighton fans will meet a lot of trouble in West and South Yorkshire!.

And if you're travelling by train it can be anywhere from Doncaster thru to Leeds Town centre, on the buses to Elland Road, after the game, whilst waiting for the return buses, back at the town centre, the station and stops back through Yorkshire.

LC:eek:

Nice to see Leeds' reputation hasn't changed one bit </sarcasm>

I was once started on by a northern piss head near Brighton station, he called me a southern wanker and punched me in the face I hit him back a lot harder leaving him in a lot of pain , it was on a Thursday night, but Brighton were at home to a northern team the previous Saturday.

I realy hope the Anti Falmer Brigade do not get to hear about this!:lolol:

Starry I have spent a fair deal of my life in Yorkshire. 7 years alone in Wakefield. Some of my best mates go to every Leeds game, home and away.
Lets say I have also been to the odd Leeds game. But because of my mates - I have also got to know a few of the bad lads of Leeds.

In addition one of my best mates is one of the Police heavies, who deals with the scum of Leeds society including the nutters that "follow" Leeds.

I am pretty well aware that a few lads based in Yorkshire like to jump other fans. Which as you will know why the Police often travel on the metro's and Inter Cities b4 and after Leeds games. And following a few kick offs in Wakefield and Barnsley, these areas can also be a pretty unsafe area for away fans.

It pisses me off no end, that a few wankers in Brighton, can change a game where no Leeds fan would have been that bothered about into one. Where some lads will take a lot of pleasure in "gay bashing".

Oh for sure we have our 'bad boys' what football club doesn't?

But to say "Brighton fans will be in trouble" walking to the ground, on trains, on buses etc when you come to Leeds is dumb.

If you're looking for trouble you can find it, same as at any ground, Leeds is no different. But if you (an away fan not you specifically) want to go to ER, watch a game in peace and go home then you can.

Does that apply to Cardiff fans too?

True and untrue. The Leeds lads in Brighton were totally innocent. Just having a few beers I imagine!

Leeds fans also include a range of fans all over the country, many I used to sit with, so southern accents are not unusual.

But I have also waited for the buses after the game, as a neutral and also with Leeds mates. And there has been some intimidating scenes because of my accent.

If you really read what I am saying.

I am not making out Leeds fans are the worst. But just highlighting that an action a few knobs in Brighton started off, can lead to loads of other innocent supporters can get caught up in repucussions. And as you are aware Leeds fan base and nutter base stretches right thru Yorkshire with some some of your worst nutters based in South Yorks.

LC and my last post on the subject. Perhaps I see you at the Elland Road return?

Interesting fact: there were only thirteen arrests in total following the Cardiff / Leeds 'riot' in January 2002 (nine on the day and another four a few days later as a result of video evidence). Of those arrested, three were later released without charge. Nine fans were convicted of various public order offences.

I wonder why this nasty incident in Brighton hasn't had the same sort of media coverage that was given to the 'riot' at Ninian Park?

They are an exception to the rule, not that I condone any form of violence or hooliganism.

I just hope they are treated the same way we were when we went there for our league game last month.

Oh, I totally understood what you were saying.

And I shall indeed be at Elland Road when Brighton come up, perhaps by then Leeds will have remembered what it is like to play football!

Those Leeds fans involved were not totally blameless, they were the same 20 odd Leeds fans looking for a fight earlier on that evening.

Also you mention that the actions of the Brighton 'fans' could lead to problems at Elland Road when we visit next year.

Perhaps it was the destruction of Brighton and the terrorising of innocent people by Leeds fans in the early '90s that led to some Brighton people wanting their own 'payback'!

I know 2 wrongs don't make a right, but I do think that the Leeds fans have bought this on themselves.

OK, I will start this by saying I'm a Leeds fan who now lives in Hampshire and am not a member of any official supporters club. I travel to and from games independently with a group of friends/family. Therefore couldn't travel with a local supporters club. A two hour trip to Cradiff (thats how long it takes to get from here) invloved going via Leeds (to get club travel) and back again afterwards. 23 hours of travelling when it could have been just 4. I have no porblem with this really even the trouble and history there is between the clubs, just hope that when they come to Leeds we send then via Edinburgh nad back home via Kent. ;)

This is the letter we were sent about it -

Dear Supporter

Cardiff City Vs Leeds United - Saturday 2nd October 2004

As a result of disturbances and disorder at previous fixtures when visiting Cardiff City FC, the South Wales Police Force have insisted that a number of measures are implemented in order to minimise the potential for disorder.

In particular, the South Wales Police Force have requested that:

1. The fixture is all ticket and supporters will not be able to purchase tickets on the day.
2. Leeds United FC is restricted to selling tickets to Season Tickets Holders/Forever Leeds Members.
3. Supporters are restricted to travelling to the fixture on organised coaches only, using the Coach/Voucher/Ticket System.
4. A voucher system will be implemented

As a result, any supporter who wishes to travel to this fixture must comply with the above recommendations. These requirements are not optional and must be adhered to strictly. In particular, any supporter wishing to attend the fixture must be able to demonstrate that he/she has arranged organised travel prior to Leeds United processing their application. Leeds United supporters who are successful with their application wand agree to the above criteria will be sold a voucher. The voucher will only be exchanged for a match ticket whilst aboard the coach en route to the game at an agreed rendezvous point.

This letter does not guarantee that your application has been successful for the above fixture. All applications are help on file and processed in strict order of receipt. Please complete the attached form confirming that you are able to meet the above criteria. if you do not respond to this letter then we assume that you no longer wish to attend this fixture. The deadline to return the attached form is close of business on Monday 13th September 2004.

We acknowledge that these requirements are a substantial change in the manner and method of attending an away fixture. However, we respectfully request your co-operation in this manner to enable compliance with Police requirements and to enable our supporters to travel safely and enjoy this fixture.

If you require further information, please feel free to contact Ticket Services on 0845 121 1992

Yours faithfully

That's the exact same routine that our fans have to endure for any trips to Millwall, Stoke, Bristol, etc, and it is the same routine we'll have to endure for the return match at Elland Road.

We've had these sort of restrictions placed upon us for any match considered volatile ever since the Leeds 'riot' of 2002. The most irritating thing is that the Police regularly see to it that we City fans don't get to the grounds we are visiting until after kick off.

I got to Millwall ten minutes after kick off this year, some of our coaches didn't get there until 25 minutes into the game. And this after meeting the Police at the designated time and place (South Mimms services, 12-30pm).

These trips are a major pain in the arse for fans who live anywhere other than South Wales, but the CCFC supporters clubs now pick up people at various points en-route. Our Millwall coach picked up two guys in Slough (which was handy, because we managed to spend an hour in a pub!), while the 1927 Club (our London-based club) got their own coach together and met the Old Bill at South Mimms.

Is this the first time you've had such restrictions for an away game?

Yep, was the first and only time (so far) that we have had restrictions on away travel.

errr how do you KNOW that? Weren't you getting on your high horse because you thought people on here were judging the Brighton fans before they knew they were guilty or not. How do you KNOW these Leeds fans weren't blameless?
