Ok maybe a little harsh, but from What I understand there were chairs thrown etc etc just because Leeds fans were quite happily drinking inside.

All I am saying, IF this is what has happened, WHOEVER it was who done this, we as a club just do not need it or this type of fan at the moment!

;)

I know these men and they love the Albion the same as anybody else.
They are not your type of people, but that is no reason why they would not support the Albion any less than you.
What they have done is wrong and they will pay for that.
Just leave them alone.

Exactly.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
If you spend anysort of time on West Street of a weekend then there are far far worse things going on, thats not to condone the actions of these guys, but I think it needs to be put in perspective, its all very well Sussex OB spending thousands on this 'Operation' and making up a fancy name for it so it will get lost of press attention, but maybe they should concentrate a bit more effort on doing something about parts of our beachfront that have become no go areas at night.

Oh yeah, that would take real police work, not just matching up CCTV with old mugshots.

I'm glad they are taking action - even if it is over-the top.

Then at least when the NIMBYS play the hooligan card the club can point to the arrests made and say, hand on heart, that the trouble makers are being dealt with.

I AM NOT HAVING OUR NEW STADIUM JEOPARDISED BY A LOAD OF IDIOTS HAVING A MID-LIFE CRISIS AND DESPERATELY TRYING TO RELIVE THEIR YOUTH!!!!

I'm not in the slightest way condoning it, just feel there are far worse things going on in our city that Sussex Constabulary seem to be unable to deal with.

Exactly. Although the Police action isn't over the top IMO. The idiots involved probably brought terror to a pub on a Saturday night in an area often frequented by tourists. What right have they to do that in the name of The Albion? There appear's to be some half hearted attempts on here to almost justify what these people did. It doesn't wash.........

... Nor does it wash to blame Leeds supporters.

Lush is right. This is a serious issue. We've already seen planning applications bitterly opposed (and some of them turned down) on the grounds that the behaviour of the potential customers is unacceptable. No-one wants to hear those arguments put seriously at the Inquiry into Falmer. So far, they haven't been. But things might now change.

So when a group of decent Brighton fans get set upon by Leeds thugs later in the season as an act of revenge we just say "O well thats football", bollocks, they should be named, shamed and publically humiliated.

i think is this situation as someone already mentioned its not just about the football supporters in these pubs. it was the normal saturday night crowd enjoying their evening that got dragged in. i visit the pump house and i would have been horrified if i was having a nice drink on a satdi night to be confronted by tables and chairs being thrown in my direction.

yes there are hooligans in all clubs. however these people werent doing it for the love of the albion they hide behind football and its about time something was done about it. as Lush pointed out we cant give the nimbys any excuse

I don't understand why people are saying 'all football clubs have them' like we don't know that. I don't know who was invoved in this incident, and I do know that all clubs have followers like these.

I just think people who smash up a pub and fight are utter twats, whoever they may be. And how much they support -insert team's name here- is f***ing irrelevant.

Only if found guilty in a court of law and not the court of NSC !

Of which has not happened yet!

unfortunately its common practice in law to name and shame at the outset. its always happened and it will always happen unless the defendants apply for a press ban and then its up to the judge at the magistrates.

Spot on. They should be sought out by the police, found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

As for naming them however, I do agree that it is out of order putting their names in the press before they are tried. If found guilty then yes by all means name them, but until then, don't.

I think he meant something a bit different there.

If they are charged and therefore brought before a court of law then they can and should be named. If from there they are convicted then all well and good and if they go to trial and are found not guilty then in theory it is to their advantage to have their name in the paper because they have been exonorated.

If we started banning the press from naming people we would be on a slippery slope whereby people could start manipulating events and new witnesses may not be aware they could help an investigation.
