Should we be looking to sell Ulloa now?

What, as opposed to telling the new man what a wonderful squad we have including Ulloa, then selling him a week later and risk getting off on the wrong foot from the word go?

We clearly needed to sell Bridcutt to ensure we finished within FFP - otherwise if we were already comfortably under the £8million then why wouldn't we have reinvested part of that fee - say £1.1 million - to bolster the squad? I know we signed Stephens but effectively that was offset by Barnes / El-Abd / wages saved on Vicente.

considering it seems to be an issue attracting talent to the club i would say off loading anyone who is half decent is utter madness

With most of the names as potential managers being bandied about, plus loan/contract situations, we are in for big transitional period anyway. Wholesale changes.

While of course I want Ulloa to stay I can see what Pavilionaire is saying. IF you think the player is going to end up going anyway at some point soon (either because he indicates that, or the bids are getting big) then sooner is far better than later, even without all the other reasons.

If the club gets a bid of £7million, they'd have to think very seriously about it. And you'd need to weigh up the likelihood of us challenging next season, rather than rebuilding. I don't think we will challenge next season, but love to be proved wrong on that one.

I've got an idea about Ulloa and CMS.............................................................

Ulloa is cleary not a lone striker

As much as CMS is neither, and CMS is also not a winger.............

Doesn't require Einstein to work out how best to use them does it.

Should we sell Ulloa, **** off!

If the club is going to progress players need to be sold in order to bring in fresh faces.

If the club is going to progress players need to be sold in order to bring in better faces.
Or cheaper faces for the same output, freeing up cash for deployment elsewhere.
Or younger faces, who can be tied up in long-term contracts at relatively low pay.

Freshness per se isn't a reason to do anything.

The new manager is going to dismantle the team anyway if automatic promotion is the goal.
Good I hope he does. Then use the same pieces and put it back together in a more sensible way!

Not looking, but certainly considering if the right money was offered. £6.5 million has been quoted/made up and that size of offer would be hard to turn down as if reinvested wisely you could bring in four very strong Championship players with that.

I disagree, I think the Oscar situation puts this in a whole new perspective. We lost £15 million in 2012/13 and could lose no more than £8 million in 2013/14 to comply with FFP. Regardless of whether Bridcutt wanted to be here or not I believe we had to sell him to stay within the £8million limit, and I believe all of the transfer business over the last year has been done primarily with FFP in mind and the needs of the manager of secondary importance.

Ulloa is a great player but over the course of the 2 Derby matches he hardly had a shot or created a chance because we weren't creative enough elsewhere on the pitch.

There are too many deficiencies in the side now to afford us the luxury of keeping Ulloa, sad as that may be. One man cannot get you promoted out of the Championship.

Where is it clear?

Bridcutt was looking to leave and basically went on strike to achieve it. I believe you're attempting to rewrite history.

Who said automatic promotion was the goal? Here's the mission statement for BHAFC:

1.0 Mission Statement
Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club (“The Club”) aims to be a source of civic pride in the City of Brighton and Hove (“The City”). It will enhance the image and increase national awareness of the “City by the Sea” by:

1. Playing professional football at the highest possible level.
2. Managing the Club professionally so as to ensure a sustainable future for top class sport within the City.
3. Representing and caring for the interests of its supporters and the vibrant and diverse community of Brighton and Hove encouraging involvement through liaison and consultation groups.
4. Participating in the Football League campaign “Enjoy the Match” by eradicating anti-social behaviour specifically in the family area of the ground, making the experience more appealing to all supporters and especially families.
5. Developing the potential of young people seeking to achieve sporting excellence.
6. Expanding the important work of our Albion in the Community programme, creating opportunities for young people who are disadvantaged or who have special needs to learn and to take part in sport.
7. Providing a facility which will attract visitors to the City and create education, training and employment opportunities.
8. Developing opportunities that recognise and reflect the needs of different community groups in the City, providing additional places to play and opportunities to improve standards from grass roots to specialised coaching.
9. Promoting an understanding of the value to the wider community of sport with accessible and affordable community spectator facilities creating top level spectator and participator experience.
10. Enhancing and promoting the place of football in our City’s heritage and culture, and in the pursuit of sporting and civic values through partnerships across the commercial, public and education sectors.

Will Derby go into melt down if they lose in the final. Maybe we can poach a couple of their players.

Leicester are going to spend £180m to finish in the top 5. They are throwing it about so a £10m offer opens negotiation!
