Somewhere over there...
But if England where to win a World Cup or something then I would hate to hear the words , "ENGLAND HAVE WON THE WORLD CUP WITH (for example) Italian manager Fabio Capello"

Just doesn't sound right that the ENGLISH NATIONAL Football Team having to rely on foriegners for success.

Out of interest, when was the last time a national team won a World Cup with a foreign manager? has it ever happened?

Terry and Ferdinand out last night, so instead of getting Nesta or Cannavaro we have to use our next best English centre half (according to McClaren) Lescott. Its a shame but there it is and that retains the idea that it is a national team.

McClaren is gone, so we will have the national team run by a non-english person, becaue we do not have a suffciently good english manager coach/manager! Fine but then it is no longer the England national team is it? If of course the manager is a crucial position which most would probably say it is.

The question in this scenario is not who should the next foreign manager of the "England national team" be but has ENGLAND not produced a decent manager/head coach? If one is a developing football nation maybe fine, bend the rules a bit, until the structure is in place to have a national coach but ENGLAND! For shame.

Not having the players with the passing ability, tactical awareness, intelligence or personality to succeed at international level is part and parcel of not producing a coach with the requisite ability. Adress these related issues or there is no point in pretending imo.

Its fine to say get the best man for the job, ok let's get the best foreign coach not pretend the England team is a representive team for the countr because it won't be.

It should be the best candidate, I don't care if she's from Mars.

Ideally they SHOULD be English, ideally nations like England SHOULD be managed by one of their own - but the rules say otherwise. It's going to be hard enough to drag ourselves back to a decent level even with the best candidate - so why make it even harder for ourselves by insisting that the manager comes from a specific geographical location? There are enough rules, laws and restrictions already without people inventing new ones!

Until they make it a rule for all countries that the manager and coaches should be from that country, then let's not handicap ourselves. It's hard enough to win a tournament anyway.

It should be the best man for the job.

I think that the rule should be that all national temas should have a manager of whom is the same nationality of the country, just like the players have to be.

BUT saying this, I wouldnt trust many (if any) English managers today with the job :nono:

and that goes down to someone who once owned a goat in Cornwall?
