Yes, you never get any trouble abraod from yobish behaviour from the locals only the brits. i think most brits get drunk when going out know that they only have until 2am to get drunk i think that if cold buy drinks 24 hours a day people won't be trying to go out and get plashered really quickly

Why not ? If the demand is there I can't see a problem.

The Governement to me are tlaking in riddles. Not a couple of weeks ago they wanted to stop binge drinking and now they are gonna allow pubs to open for 24 hours. Very silly IMO

I don't think a lot of pubs would stay open 24/7 anyway.Probably they would just use it to not have to actually kick people out at a certain time.

Most people start going out around 8 or 9pm. Try and get a few in coz they close at 11. This causes people to get too drunk too quickly.
Having a pub open 24/7 (or as long as they want) takes away this pressure to 'get a few in quick' and would be better all around i reckon.

The novelty will wear off soon.

Has it's good and bad points. I don't really think it should happen here though.

Magoo's post worries me. I have noticed most people go out late. Me and Brunning go out at about 6 or 7 and drink until 2!

When they increased the opening hours in Scotland there was no increase in yobbish behaviour. (Mind you, being Scotland how could you tell ?) :lolol: :lolol:

Most defiantely yes, realisticly pubs would not open 24 hours sun-Thu as there would not be the demand anyway.

At the weekends it then takes the pressure off ramming 6 pints down your throat in 3 hours becasue you know its time soon.

In Spain people dont even go out till 10 or 11 and pace themselves nicely as they know they have all night to enjoy themselves, and you very rarely see the scum in the town like you do in England.

Why does it worry you fatboy?
Dan seems to be talking on the same lines.

Let's face it unless you're minted it would be pretty hard to drink at a steady pace fom say 8pm to 6am.You'd be lucky t get change from 75 quid i'd say.

Just makes me realise how much I drink!

I really struggled getting used to continental nights out; going out at about 11 and not feeling the need to binge drink.

If pubs were open later here would people really drink slower or go out much later? I reckon it would just mean people drink more and get a lot more drunk!

Yes, they should and full marks to the poxy Daily Mail for choosing to miss the point and accusing the government of double standards. Had it been a Tory government who announced a crackdown of binge drinking and then followed it up with proposals for 24 hours opening then the Mail would be commending them for taking a mature approach.

But you can forget about it. It ain't going to happen because Blair has twice dangled this carrot to win popularity and twice taken it away after the elections that followed. After all, this is Blair's Nanny State. Do you really think he'd trust us with making a decision about when to go out and for how long?

I'd just like to see pubs stay open till 1am just a ouple of extra hours would make all the difference. Saves that awful 11pm moment that if you want a night out to continue you haver to go to a club.

Also how come very few pubs in Brighton stay open beyond 11. up here in Huddersfield there are plenty of bars and pubs which stay open till 1am 2am depending on what night it is.
