Strangely having said in the press that he got a fiver from his grandma so I said he could go to mcdonalds, on facebook the mother said that he didnt use his christmas money for burgers

This came up on a facebook feed a couple of weeks back. Rather than let it lie theyve given their story to the press inflicting more damage on the daughter. Its made national press as well. The.comments on the Sun online story were pretty unforgiving

Kicked off on there big style yesterday, while I have some sympathy as many of the Sun comments are vile (some here aren't very nice either) but what was she thinking of? I think it was a mistake to post it on Facebook, but a huge error to allow it to be in the Sun.

That said, how do the Sun approach people? If it's "We're going to publish a story, do you want give your side?" Then it must be difficult. The photos though......

She was apparently approached by an agency wanting to publish her story. Now at that stage id have just said no and let that be an end to it. It seems a strange decision for a parent to do that

Agree, sadly with social media, the poor kid will be the butt of abuse and jokes for a long time to come because of this. Some parents really are STUPID

The Jeremy Kyle and celebrity era I suppose, everyone wants their 5 mins in the spotlight, without thinking how they are going to appear in the spotlight

As a result the mother has kicked off, embelished it slightly more and as such it has been proven impossible to prove on CCTV

She may even have had a reputation from her time there

Reckon you're right, I'm sure there'd have been plenty of witnesses to back up the kids story if it had been shouted, I doubt she was the only customer.
