The Last 20 minutes are real chokers aren't they!!

Yes. They really were. Have not been to an F1 race since 1994. Will be getting the official DVD when that is out but i am glad i got eh chance to see it at the cinema which does it more justice. The only slight oddity i found with the film is that it did not really go enough into the rivalry between him and Prost which really was fierce. Some excellent comedy moments as well from Senna at the drivers meeting especially

AVS, in the full version (not the cut down cinema version) it goes in to the rivalry between senna and prost a lot deeper. i suppose that they had to cut what is essentially 3 hours worth of footage in to a Cinema length film.

the DVD will be full length...

Oh okay. I did wonder. Makes sense. Although i would of been happy watching it for 5 hours i was that engrossed. Can't wait for the DVD then! He made that Balestre look like an idiot in one of the meetings, brilliant

In fairness that didn't seem like it would be difficult.

I still can't quite work out why the on board footage looked so much more realistic on Senna's car, than today.

That is true. Seemed like a bit Blatter-esque type of power freak to me. THe on board footage looks better because the on-board cameras were very raw technology wise in those days. These days it is a little clinical. It gave a better sense of speed as well i thought. A bit like Super 8 cameras do in the older films

The shot of him 'gaining an advantage' at the chicane.
And across the credits, when he pisses past the 2 drivers side by side.

Were just breath taking.

Yeah there were several fabulous scenes in the film. The Row about the pole position being changed last minute was such a stitch up, but Senna done wa he had to do, and stick to the powers that be by making sure Prost did not finish. I wonder when the DVD will be out

Saw it this evening - great film/documentary - seems to be pulling in a decent audience much to the surprise of the cinemas - Cineworld round my way were only intending to show it over the weekend and are extending the run.

The onboard footage shown on the big screen does seem far more edgy than what we get these days - they must have been either brave or insane - or both.

Both to be fair, although the drivers back in the 50's and 60's were even braver, with pretty much no safety taken into consideration and some drivers burning to death in the wreckage whilst the race was still going on. Truly awful scenes

Took the afternoon off work and went to see it - it was only on for one day in cineworld Wolverhampton. What a brilliant film. I have never seen the crash before - it was the only race of the 1994 season that I missed. A really good film and the race footage was so scary. As someone that doesn't remember the 1980's, I was amazed at home the circuits have changed.

And yes, the kids Christmas show was plain wrong!!

It'll be back, it's a real slow burner/word of mouth film.
Our World of Cine didn't have it, then just on a Tues, now it was showing Saturday night to a 3/4ers full audience.

I went to see the film this afternoon and it was excellent and very moving. As for the rivalry with Prost, this is very much filmed in favour of Senna, as you would expect from the title.

Saw it a few days after release and loved it. Brilliant film and well worth catching at the cinema as the big screen and sound do it a justice I find hard to imagine capturing on DVD, such as Rubens massive crash in the practice session.

It took me a long time to get over his death. I didn't quite understand the whole brain dead business at that stage and continued to pray for a miracle. Really looking forward to seeing this.

I'll wait until it comes out on DVD as I need the subtitle extra!

Saw this last night and loved it. It's a fantastic piece of film-making which can really be appreciated whether you're a fan of F1 or just as a human interest story.

Right from the start and THAT lap at Monaco it's clear to see what a truly special driver he was, able to do things that most others just couldn't or wouldn't have done (the last 7 laps of the '91 Brazilian GP with the car stuck in 6th gear being another example). Prost and Balestre come across as complete dicks although how much of that is accurate and how much is, shall we say, selective editing I'm not sure. The scene which really got me was the interview with him after Martin Donnelly's crash, watching that with the hindsight of what was to come is very hard viewing.

Speaking of which, the last 20 minutes of the film are genuinely tough to get through, right from Barrichello's huge crash to watching Ratzenberger's car getting ripped to pieces and then of course THE crash itself....even when you know what's coming it doesn't make it any easier at all to actually watch it happen.

Brilliant film though, cannot recommend it highly enough. For me it's right up there with 'When We Were Kings' in terms of sporting documentaries.
