I have to attend a wake next Tuesday. With the thoughts of this thread in mind, I'll come straight to the match.

That's MY shirt - in figure A. Where can I get those trousers though?

There's a retro shop in the Lanes. We'll hold you to it now.

I wonder if those kecks are fastened up with a strip of velcro?

I remember my parents dressing me in a brown dotted shirt and blue flares for Sunday School in the 70s. Hip kid.

When the fans made an effort???

Most likely 1930's. The 'Deane Wiles & Millar' sign is strategically placed. They produced a number of famous postcards of Brighton during the 30s and 40s.

It's impossible to date though, as we played Swindon Town most every year.

As the game was so boring I spent quite a bit of time today looking out for people whose cothes don't fit. Agree there were alot of trampish looking middle aged people at the ground.

Saw quite a few in the North wearing shirts, jeans and tracky bottoms about 2 sizes too big. Dreadful!

well my uncles around 15 in the picture so 1931ish

I'd say you are spot on there. Initially I thought it was mid 20s, but a lot of folk are wearing Fedoras.

We played Swindon Town at home in October 1930 & January 1932, both 1-0 wins (Courtesy of statto.com) I'd say that's your uncle at one of those fixtures then.

North Sompting
Saw a mid 40's guy with a mid 40 inch waist in sompting petrol station wearing a replica shirt, beer belly hanging over his trousers etc. Probably went to the match, I didn't. BUT I was wearing slim fit jeans a smart buttoned up polo shirt, CK boxers and some G Star hi-tops. Who is the better fan? ME obviously but you know...
