I've got several scars from having moles cut out.

Back in 97 I just finished playing squash and getting changed when some random bloke said to me "ooo you better get that checked out" I said "what you talking about?" he said "That mole on your back, it doesn't look right. My dad had a mole like that and it turned out to be cancerous"

So being in my mid 20's I said thanks and ignored him, however I did go to the Doctors a month later, just because I couldn't stop thinking about what he said.
So I saw a specialist and he said "Yes we'll cut that out, and also the one on your arm as I don't like the look of that one"

Anyway after being cut and they got checked, I got called back and he said "The one on your back is fine, however the one on your arm is a bit dangerous (a malignant melanoma) and it's spread so we need to cut more of your skin" Thankfully the next removal got all of it. So over the years I've been vigilant in looking for different shaped moles, if I see one I get it cut out. Luckily though all fine since.

However if it wasn't for that bloke saying that to me, I have no doubt I would have died from skin cancer probably a few years after.

#awaits the "cool story bro" image!

I had one in the centre of my chest cut out (add that scar to my extensive list on page 1...) after I visited the "mens over 40" health check clinic they did at the Amex a few years ago. I'd had the mole a while, and never thought much of it as it was quite pale compared to normal moles, but went along to get it checked out anyway. The consultant took one look and wanted it removed, so I had a small op a few weeks later and the results did indicate pre cancerous cells.

Thank goodness for the Albion's health programme at that time, or I probably would've just left it....

Nearly a foot long scar down the centre of my chest , where the RSCH split open my sternum and spatchcocked me this Summer. Also one over my missing appendix , and a four inch scar on my right forearm , due to my sister smashing a glass door on me when I was 14.

Cancer, left tonsil.
That scar is from having my lymph nodes removed.
It is still completely numb above the scar until half way up my cheek. But , it’s better than the alternative.

Amen to that. That really was one heck of a scar though! I take it that it's diminished somewhat since then?

After reading through this thread, & seeing what an accident prone bunch most of us are, I think its time we all took precautions...and also never leave our houses again

A couple of small ones and one big one around my left ankle from having it reconstructed with bits of metal a few years ago after a sporting injury, one the size of a 50p on my left shin from a different incident, this time with a bench while out running and distracted. That one ended up with me in hospital for a couple of days and no one believing how it actually happened. One an inch or so long on my right elbow from colliding with a concrete coalshed while on my bike as a child and one an inch or so long on the back of my head from a radiator when I was about 4. Also one on the palm of my left hand from putting it through a shed window stopping myself falling while playing football.

Yeah, you can only really see it if you look now.

I can’t shave with a wet shave now, I’ve had to change to an electric razor, and I have good days and bad days with swallowing. Lots of scar tissue in the back of my throat.

None at all apart from a chicken pox scar near my right eye which I picked when I was a toddler.

I gave chicken pox to my dad and he was off work for three weeks. Ha! Ha! Ha! :lolol:

Well you are still in the land of the living mate, that's the bottom line. Long may it continue.

3 inches long scars horizontally beneath each knee to move tendons and bone (inc insert screws) to fix dislocating knee caps when I was a teenager, as well as inch long above each knee as an attempt to fix the dislocations but didn't work hence the bigger op.

Also various small scars around left knee for arthroscopies (3 scars a time!) to flush out bits as my knees slowly disintegrate due to arthritis.

Predictable future scars : eventually (when I'm old enough - apparently being in my early fifties is too young) I'll have 2 long scars on both knees when they replace them!
