So how is everybody getting along?

I have been stuck on the same mission for weeks now and can see no way of getting any further which is driving me mad.

It's that bastard race for Cesar out in the badlands, just before you get to go to San Fierro. I f***ing hate it, it's impossible. I can't even do it ignoring the other racers and pea-rollering my car about like Mr Careful. It always gets blown up.

All my mates have gotten beyond this and are enjoying life in SF but I am stuck in this shitpit forever. Why can't I do it? Up until this point I was really enjoying myself but now the game has become boring and monotonous. Can't even get that ho Denise in the sack

Just completed the story part of the game :)

Can't help with that mission as I found it fairly straight-forward. All I can suggest is to not crash into things! And give Denise the giant dildo, works a treat.:lolol:

You know Kev, most people put the *spoiler* alert BEFORE the spoiler.

I'm currently flying Zero's plane with very little fuel. Hardly get any playing time on it :(

which one the first or the second? If its the first, use the car next to Catalina's cabin. Its fast enough and will take a good beating. mind you you should know the course by now and have few hits. Get out in front (but dont bother trying off the start) and you should stay there. And im a crap driver.

If its the second.... well dont want to spoil it for you.

different race referee87. for the one that ends at the pier, aviod the carnage at the start then just stick with the pack until an opportunity arises to overtake - in other words, dont try too hard. You'll find the other cars are a bit crap and will crash lots. learn the route near the end so you know where the next blip will be. simply slow down for the last corner, stay on the right side of the road and press X as hard as you can.

And forget about the hoe's. This is about mindless gratuitous violence. the bitches are just an irritating side show, apparently they dont even count towards your % complete.

i found this quite easy that race just take it nice and slowly, no need to rush let the other racers just smash each other to bits, stay out front get good lead and then do the next mission for catalina its called farewell my love. Same course but backwards but you get a black car for this and the annoying bitch leaves the scene after you win the next race. *spoiler*

Good advice from Kev (apart from the *spoiler* alert at the end again

That race through the countryside is a bastard if you try to hammer it all the way. Just take it steady, overtake on the straights, and once you're in front DO NOT go flat-out. You just don't need to. Concentrate on staying on track and just "dab" the accelerator. Another tip (and it may sound obvious), but DO NOT accelerate and turn at the same time, or its a surefire way or losing control. If you're turning, then leave that little X alone.

By the way - and you won't like this - you have to do that race all over again, following the same course but going back the other way, all the way to the start. But follow the tips and you'll do it in a couple of goes, tops.

Nah I did the first race first time, no problem at all. It's the 'Farewell my love' race that I have yet to complete, with GTA3 man involved. I've no idea why I find it so tough but after another evening's play I'm no closer to getting near the end of it, I've even tried getting out the car and destroying the other racers but to no avail.

I will seriously snap the disc if I've not completed it by the end of the week. I've been stuck here for longer than I've ever been stuck on any GTA game before. But instead of not caring I'm absolutely desperate to get past it so I can carry on the rest of the game.

Why is it such a c**t?

I was stuck on that race for a while, but its one of those ones that if you leave for a day or two and go back to it, you end up doing it almost straight away. Don't give up on it Bluejuice. Just take things easy - you DON'T need to go flat-out to win it. Once you get a lead, just make sure you keep the thing on 4 wheels and the other cars won't get a sniff.

If you havn't done so already, FORGET the ramps when you turn into the fields with barns in. Go round instead. Ramping is a surefire way of overturning and f***ing the whole thing up. It might take a little longer to go round the barns, but keep on an even keel and you'll piss it anyway.

I took out the first dude straight at the start, press X as soon as the timer hits one then head to the right, the driver will try to avoid you and crash into the wall. Go straight on, and cut across the grass (the other will go around the corner) knock into them and they will lose a bit of time there perhaps even fall off the edge. Carry on and try to push them right off the edge into the water. Elsewhere, go slow around the corners and fly down the straights. The best car to get is a landrover. They can a hell of a lot of battering and are fast. They are also powerful at knocking other cars off the road. Try to knock the others into walls or off the road at every chance.
I'm not a good driver and though I would be stuck for hours, concenctrate more on taking out the other drivers and go slow around corners.

Aint been on it for a while, hooked on PES4 still! :clap2:

I disagree completely.
Ignore the other drivers. If you keep it steady, they're quite capable of f***ing it up themselves. Once in front, you'll never see them again if you take it easy. Start trying to take them out and you'll end up overturned in a ditch yourself.

Thats the beauty of this game thoigh...different styles and different methods to meet the same ends. Quality innit. The only thing I miss is those 80's choons from Vice City. Man, that radio was sweeeet.

Oh god do I miss the 80's vibe. It's not just the quality tunage, but the whole bright sunshine-laden Miami-style city with all the glorious "f*** it everyone's loaded" attitude. That's what Vice City was about and despite a few obvious enhancements in SA like bicycle's and gambling, I don't think it's got the same overall feel of something really special and nostalgic y'know?

Agree about the sound track, so disappointed I was born at the end of the 80's I missed a great era!

I'm feeling you bro'
(WHOA, too much San Andreas for me there...)

That nostalgia trip is one of the joys of Vice City. The suits with the arms rolled up. The tackiness of it all. And when you just CAN'T get outta the car cos Joe Jackson has just come on the radio with 'Stepping Out', or Gary Numan is on with 'Cars'.

I go all misty-eyed just thinking about it.

With "Farewell..." the trick is to get in the lead fairly early. In SA, the other racers drive like you do, crashing into each other, you and obstacles, not scaletrix style like it was in VC. Go easy for the first bit, just keep up. Then when going down round the tight corners, the last one has a shortcut dirt track before it, about halfway down the straight on the left - take that and you'll go straight to the front. Then just keep out of trouble for the rest of the race.
