Nigel Farage has been forced to abandon a public appearance in Rotherham after violent protests against him speaking.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31163189

1400 rapes - not one protester.
Farage turns up - Socialist Worker's Party protesters are out in force.

Nice to see the SWP have their priorities as straight as ever.
What an extraordinary statistic that is.

99% of Pakistanis are Muslim, so "Muslim" is irrelevant. I do agree that it is relevant that they are Pakistani - because Pakistan has a seriously shocking rape/paedophile culture. I remember reading that in Pakistan, 1 in 4 women have been raped.

However even though it is a cultural problem in Pakistan that is now occurring here, it is not useful to create a typecast of Pakistanis as paedophiles, because a vast majority are not. The media is right not to marginalise an ethnicity like that.

Of course the police should profile Pakistanis for this, but no good can come of the public doing it - it will only lead to greater racial tensions in Britain.

I would expect full accurate information with all its associated cultural and religious nuances.

Accurate reporting, challenging debates, arrests, charges and convictions, thats the only way to deter racial tensions, not cover ups.

"Typecast ". Meanwhile the whole Asian continent is being "typcast" for the continuing actions of those whose name we dare not print. Meanwhile the other Asian countries and cultures are being dragged through the mud.

Oh just **** off you clown , this has, if not the tacit support,of the pakistani ccommunity it has them wilfully ignoring it and sweeping it under the carpet.

Bushy - Have you read who these people were? Drug dealers and big time pimps in the main, extremely violent men with massive reputations. I would imagine the majority of the Pakistani community was scared to death of them.

If you could find the time have a read of the report, it's a catalogue of blind eye turning and outright failure from police, social services and the council. The report is interesting in the way that it deals with the racial element, it says that the council was in no way a politcally correct one(it was defined by bullying and sexisim.) There was a misguded attempt to keep the racial aspect of these crimes quiet as they feared that it would exacerbate tensions that were already present in the community, this was completely unhelpful. However, the report also said that 'politcal correctness' was shield for a completely ineffective council to hide behind, who lacked the will, skill or experience to deal with child sex explotation effectively.

I would argue that the Pakisataini community in Rotherham were also let down by this utter failure of insititutions to do the job expected of them. The community tensions now being experienced were almost completely avoidable.

It is, isn't it. Meanwhile Labour's Rotherham MP thinks the whole Farage protest is 'hilarious'.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31166914

Nice to see someone finding the funny side to institutional child abuse.

I thought you were joking about the MPs remarks, then I read report.

As someone who would surely support open democracy the consequences of mob rule preventing a legitimate political party opening a local office is nothing short of a national disgrace.

To describe it as "hilarious" is appalling.

Adding the fact that it's in Rotherham and the mob are more concerned about unelected MPs more than what has dripped out in the news this week (and in recent times) is even more depressing.

This country is absolutely ****ed.

The SWP is scarcely in a position to protest about rape victims, is it? The comrades are probably planning a campaign in support of the alleged rapists right now

Even more specifically Pakistani. But it would not be fair to isolate or marginalise a million British Pakistanis for the actions of a few.

Just let the rozzers do their jobs and catch the scumbags, without furthering racial tensions in Britain.

One of the 'rozzers' under investigation has just now been killed in a car crash....

Not to mention spelling...........they most be upper class...........****ing Bigarts.

They do look a terrifying mob from all the pictures I've seen, that old guy with the flat cap with the brolly could do some real damage.

No wonder Farage decided to stay in his office for 'safety' reasons. No way would he have cynically used the situation to his advantage….

Maybe, but if he wanted exploit it, wouldn't he want to be confronted by them spewing their own "bigarted" views like when he was smacked over the head with a placed by the mob Kent way. That was a much better TV and played into his hand as a moderate against extremists.

Much better to take one for the team, than hide in the office............that is the opposite, makes him look cowardly, rather than stoic.

The report says Police advice, if that's true surely he is unable to exploit it?

That's my take anyway.

Police advice could have been a friendly "maybe better to stay in as in might get a bit vocal out there", you could present the phrase 'police advice' anyway you want if you wanted to. I'm looking at all the available pictures and not seeing a baying hate filled mob after blood, I'm seeing a peaceful protest with some bad spelling.

Playing it this way plays into his mantra that their party is bullied in the press, bullied on the streets, that they are the party victims of discrimination etc. He knows what he's doing, he had nothing to gain going outside, much more to gain looking the victim of a 'mob' - come on, calling them a mob is hilarious in itself! :lolol:

I'm not making any interpretations of what kind of police advice he got or what kind of mob there is or what kind of threat they pose, you are the only doing that and all from one photo.

What I do think though, is Farage would much rather be on TV being abused by his opponents than hiding in an office. It's open to your imagination currently, not so if he is being assaulted like he was on TV a while ago.

You may disagree.
