My son has bought us a couple of season tickets, so we can see the Albion regularly next season. We realised quite early on that tickets would be popular - and so it proved. The trouble is, with my work commitments and my son being at University, we are not going to be able to get to some of the games. Can anyone tell me if I am able to give/sell a ticket to a friend/my wife etc when my son cannot go? Will I be able to sell two (at cost price of course) when neither of us can go? How does it work? Excuse my ignorance. I am an avid Albion fan and have been to many matches since 1966 - I just never had the money or opportunity to get a season ticket before.
Any advice gratefully received....

There is no news on an offical club ticket exchange yet but the general feeling is that the club will be implementing this for next year. i.e club sell your seat for one game and rebate you online etc.. the other method is on sites like NSC but that will involve you lending someone your card .. not sure how that will work. You mentioned family menmbers etc and the answer is yes you can lend it etc. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks as there are a few threads on this topic.. general concensus is the club MUST provide this.. obvious benefits like full ground, extra revenue, small commision for selling your seat etc etc

Word from the club so far is that its only the fans with PSL's who will have an official ticket exchange set up for them to use.

Hopefully they'll have a rethink.

The only thing people have to watch out for is whether you have a ticket with a concession being used by someone who is not entitled to that concession. Having said that, I presume you son paid full price for both his and your tickets so shouldn't be a problem if you let a family member or friend use the ticket. Just remember that they will be a smart card rather than individual matchday tickets so you need to trust the person you give it to to give it back.

Thanks again - and yes we paid full price for the tickets. Problem seems to be on days when neither of us can go then....... wouldn't want to pass my smart card to a stranger!

Best to keep ithin the family or friends that you see often so that you can be sure of getting your card back.

Seagulls Over Burwash will be implimenting our own ticket exchange system, simply by being a member of our supporters club season ticket holders can sell their ticket on to our non season ticket holders. This way its all kept in house and everyone knows that their ticket or card will be going to someone on our database.

We've got 55 members of which 31 are season ticket holders so those non season tickets holders should in theory get to a few games next season.

Sounds like the Burwash contingent have got organised - but I think the club could be more helpful here. The link that Tom provided earlier shows there is no shortage of good suggestions for all the fans..

That's an interesting ratio of STHs to non-STHs. 31:24

If this is repeated across the Albion fanbase, it could mean that there are something like 12-13,000 people who would like to buy the occasional ticket. One or two thousand might manage to get a ticket from the ticket office. The remaining 10,000+ will be chasing tickets from existing STHs. The Club need to help this work. Saying that the few hundred PSL holders will be an adequate source is simply unconvincing.

This is very true LB, last year I kept saying to people get a season ticket if you can afford one! But many people simply thought we would not sell out. One of the reasons behind setting up Seagulls Over Burwash was to enable new or existing fans to get to games and to grow Albions supporter base in this area back up again to levels seen in the late 70's and 80's.

I knew that some people would not buy a season ticket for various reasons but at least being a member of our club will enable them to get to a few games hopefully.

We have a plan next year to purchase one season ticket through the supporters club funds and take a person locally for free to every home game in honour of a life long Albion supporter (my dad) who died before The Amex was built.

well that makes no sence. if they go to the trouble of creating a system to support an exchange, then it should be available to all. they could still give preference/improved deal to those with a PSL. with cash-less concept presumably driven by smartcards, and a bit of web interface or kiosks at Brigthon station and the club shop, it should be dead simple (albeit a few grand to set up) to deliver ticket exhange open to thousands.

I'm sure there will be a ticket exchange set up, after all it's a good revenue stream for the club and makes business sense.

I guess the tricky question the club is still considering is what extra value to give to people with PSLs, which to be honest I have no idea.

I doubt if anyone would complain if the Club gave priority to PSL holders' tickets in the sale of one-off match tickets.

If what has been said is true (that about 150 PSLs have been sold) and, say, 10 per cent of PSL holders don't attend, for each match, this should shift ... er ... 15 tickets.

You should get an electronic card as your season ticket so don't lend it to anyone who you won't get it back from.

The club will hold you responsible for any misbehaviour that friends cause whilst using your ticket, so if they are constantly standing or using foul and abusive language and get a 3 match ban it will be registered on your card and deactivated
